New to the group and new to photography! I understand most of the different challenges, but what is "Free Study"? In reviewing the closed Free Study challenges it is looking like it is pretty much anything and everything...

Thanks for the help and looking forward to learning from my photos.

Welcome, and yes, it means it can be any topic and style you like as long as it conforms to the applicable rule set.

Please read the rules carefully as they can be confusing at first. Make sure you keep your original file exactly as recorded on you camera's card and only edit a copy. Entries must be taken within the specified dates (check your camera's time/date setting!).

Notice that the Free Study rolling over tonight uses the EXTENDED RULE SET, meaning you can composite and/or heavily manipulate your images if you wish.

Yes, we alternate editing rule sets on the Free Studies with Advanced applying to the one that rolls over at the beginning of the month and Extended applying to the one that rolls over mid month.
