Do you think it's browser specific? I know others have succeeded but I've not been able to.

nowadays, if you enter an oversize picture DPC seems to automatically resize and compress as needed. It's not something I've seen happen myself, but I certainly have anecdotal evidence that this works. It probably wouldn't optimize IQ, but it would certainly be handy in a pinch.
ETA: I just tried if by uploading to the Extended FS a full-size, 6.2 Mb JPG image, and the challenge accepted it and resized it to 1200 and under 700kb, so it does work :-)

Interesting, because I wasn't able to do that last time I tried, which was I think the July FS.

(Throws hands up in air!) Sometimes I have NO idea what's going on in this weird 'n wonky place. Like rumors of white-whale sightings, I have periodically seen people saying they could do this. So I tried it myself and I could... On the other hand, other folks (like you) say they can't :-( I'm sure there's a rational explanation for this, but....

All I can suggest is that folks who may want to resort to this tactic should try it first, like NOW, to see if it works for them, then hold it in reserve until they need, assuming it does :-)

That is interesting to know since I thought for sure I had entered a couple of challenges straight from my camera roll without resizing and then the last couple of times it didn't work so I wondered if I had imagined it. In the future I will try to enter without resizing and if it doesn't work I will continue to use "Big Photo".

I sure hope it was worth the effort.

Hope I'll be back online soon.

Still waiting for my connection to be fixed so I'm still using my kindle. Nothing to enter today but I wish I could get my photos onto the kindle if I need to do this again.

Until this week I didn't realize how easy it was to find free WiFi, so at least I've learnt something from this experience.

Well that was pretty stupid. It didn't take long to figure out how to get a photo onto my kindle. I just uploaded this one without any problems:

I wish my other internet problems were as easy to solve.

I've just bought an alternate method of connecting to the internet. It's so slow it's almost unusable though.
