Yongnuo YN-14EX e-TTL Macro Ring Flash for Canon

I don't do much flash photography and only have a really low powered Canon flash which I hardly ever use, but I've always wanted a ring flash. I can't wait to play with it.

Ring flashes are SO much fun. I haven't had one for ages, but they are uber-cool :-)

Oh! I LOVE new toys! Even if it's someone else who gets it!

Congratulations!

You should have some fun with it. I bought a big box of someone's old lighting equipment, and it included a ring light. It produces really interesting light.

I haven't had much time to play but I did manage a quick experiment with a small toy. All photos are unedited, only cropped and resized. All settings were the same for the three flash photos.

From what I've read the only differences between the Yongnuo and the Canon ring flash are that the Canon has a quicker recycle speed and that it can control off camera flash. As I don't have a decent flash that I could use off camera, that wasn't an issue to me and I guess I can live with the slower recycle speed (about 3 seconds). The price difference is massive.

I'm not sure how any of this relates to Nikon though.
