This project is designed to complement Lee and Clara's Collaborative Project 3: The Fifty States by representing as many countries as possible. To help keep a consistent look and feel between the two projects, Clara has signed on to help lead this project as well.

Goal

The goal of this project is to represent as best as possible the global diversity of the DPC community. As the United States is adequately represented by the Fifty States project, it will not be represented in this project. The intention is for these to be companion projects.

This project is open-ended with regard to subject matter, but your photograph should seek to represent some unique aspect of your country.

NOTE: Similar to the other colaborative projects - the goal here is a poster sized image photos from photographers in all represented countries. Each photographer will sign a release granting the right to use the photograph in this project, and in return will receive nonexclusive rights to sell the resulting combined poster and keep any profits earned from those sales. A fixed price schedule will be determined for sales on DPC Prints only, but participants will be able to sell the project elsewhere at varying prices.

Eligibility and Selection

This project is open to all Registered Users of DPChallenge (but is not a DPC-sponsored project). You must live or have lived in the country or countries you wish to represent. If more than one photographer signs up for a given country, the project editors will choose an image to use from the eligible submissions.

If you wish to participate, please reply below with the country you wish to represent. If your country has states or provinces, please list that as well. Again, the United States will not be represented in this project. Please do not sign up to represent the United States.

Good luck and happy shooting!
-Terry

Aww, shoot Clara, lives are over-rated. I haven't had much of one in 15 years. I'll give Malta a shot, and if it's open long enough, we will be travelling through Cyprus, Turkey and maybe Greece next summer. I could do, like, standby for them...

How long will this be open, by the way?

Edit for the question.

Sounds like only one photographer could represent a country. Why the restriction?

I'd like to participate being in Canada (Toronto, Ontario to be specific). Seeing brianlh already expressed interest in representing Canada if I submitted a photo it could potentially be not chosen for inclusion in the project.

Having said the above, I'd like to be part of this project representing the province of Ontario.

For those who don't know, there are 10 provinces and three territories in Canada.

So sorry Mr (mentioned an association with Celine Dion) Houle, but alas it's too late, every time I see your username, an abnormally long neck and the words 'on and on' fill my head - I'll be passing on the medication invoice to you! ;)

Have you lived in Cyprus, Turkey or Greece?

The deadline for this project has not been set yet. I need to confer with Clara and Lee on that as my goal is to release the final product for this project at the same time as the 50 states project.

That sounds great, definitely have a go at it! For this project I have not ruled out the idea of multiple images per country. To answer your questions:

* I will provide submission instructions at a later date
* Photos should not be resized up or down. Cropping is permitted. File size is not restricted.
* In most cases you should choose your best image and submit that. If you need to submit more than one image, please contact me beforehand.
* You may edit as much as you like, but remember this is a photographic contest. Your end result should look like a photograph. Submissions that look like "digital art" most likely will not make the cut. To maintain a uniform look and feel on the finished product, I expect that in most cases color will take precedence over black and white.
