I just now went to pick up my camera and its gone I thought I may have left it else where? No the charger in the wall gone two 16mb cards not to mention the 64mb inside and the usb cable missing from my computer gone! I was at work locked my door and my mom came in to fed my dog I cant explain it someone knew exactly where it was and what else to take! I feel like crying total value around $1300 Canadian

Someone took your cam stuff from your HOUSE? And your mom was there and that's it? Hopefully someone "borrowed" it and didn't know what to take, so they took it all - burglars would have taken the computer too, no?

who would "borrow" it and not ask me mom did go out im just saying she opened the door to let dog out but when i came in he was outside and he cried a bit which was unusual

Homeowners insurance should cover it. Have your mom call and claim it. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Absoletely you should. Your home owners probably require a police report before they cover it. Also something to think about is, if you have other claims recently (home owners), I'd think twice about reporting it because they may cancel you.

I had that problem... We had a problem with a leak that ruined a wall and claimed that (fairly expensive to fix). Then a fence blew down this last winter and I claimed that. Only about $500 to fix, and I should have done it myself because about a month later they cancelled the insurance! No big deal, you can get other insurance but it'll cost more probably because they know you've been cancelled by another company.

So something to think about. Sorry about your camera, that sucks.

thanks Chris i just called to report and we have had no claims but the cop just told me like you did the deductable might not be worth it
05/26/2003 11:33:29 PM · #11
If they knew what to take and where it was at it was probably someone you know or that has been around inside of your house lately for repairs or anything of that nature. Sorry to here about your lost? I've had people bust up my cars and steal things outside but so far never inside.

Keep an eye out for any new DPCers from your area with that same camera. lol
Seriously though. That really sucks. I left my camera in a resteraunt once but luckily when I went back, it was still there! I would be lost without my camera.
Hopefully it will turn up. Keep us posted.

Roger I am so sorry!!
Our deductable on our insurance is $250.00 or 500.00. I think you need to look into it a bit more and see what the insurance company says. Looks like you have a camera worth more then that. The police don't always know what they are talking about.

if it was her do you think the police will investigate from canada to florida? she didnt even get all her things alot of her stuff is still here not enough to sell and get my camera back mind you.
05/27/2003 12:58:15 AM · #17
Well, if it was over $1000 it's pretty significant, but I'm pretty sure you'd have to wait until she got back to Canada and you'd also have to have some hard evidence that it was her. Furthermore, if you were commonlaw there may be complications with regards to property ownership. Maybe someone out there knows more...

Let the police know... quite possibly they would investigate, given the value involved. Do you have the serial number?

yes i gave them the serial # and as far as common law she was here under a vistors visa came for visit in Janurary 2002 stayed till May 2002 But didnt bring her belongings till June 17th 2002 so technically we were not together for a year so I think common law is ruled out But I'm no lawyer and I have receipt and debit transactions in my name only

wow, that sucks rogerspaul. I had a similiar situation a couple years ago, but it wasn't a camera. I hope everything works out for you and you can get your stuff back.

Judging by the number of entries received so far, this is going to be one of the open challenges with the smallest number of submissions in a long time! If there aren't too many submissions today, all of us who did submit will be in the top 100 ;)
