For those of you that have studio's in your house, what color are your walls? We are in the process of painting the rooms in our house and the room where I have my lighting setup is currently the basic off white that is used when homes are built. I am wondering if I need to keep the walls white if I am going to bounce lighting off of them or if another color works better.

I have two rooms downstairs that I use one is painted peach the other white. When I photo something in the peach room my photo has a peach tint. I noticed in the white room I get a truer white. I would say go with white.

White for sure. It helps a lot with light issues.

White will cause unwanted fill all over the place as the light from your strobes bounces all over the place. I quickly browsed the "Color Potrait" challenge the other day and the biggest problem I saw was flat (and harsh) lighting.

With white walls, you could end up having to setup flags* and frequently maneuver them. Much better to paint the walls a matte black or at least a dark shade of neutral gray and use reflectors when you need controllable fill.

Just something to think about...

*flag a large black cloth on a frame used on a shoot to keep light out of part of the composition
