I may have a problem requiring service. The mode dial is very hard to turn and causes the power switch to turn off.
Any ideas? I hate to have to send it off for service. Thanks.

You have a considerable investment in your camera. Blowing with air is more likely to induce dirt deeper inside. Send it off for service.

I agree with David Ey...send it off or take it into a local dealer who works on Sony equipment. Sounds to me like you have a small grain of dirt stuck in there. Hope all turns out well!

What about condensation? A couple times, recently, I have taken the camera outside to 90+ temperature after being at 70 inside and the lens immediately fogs up. I took a photo without realizing it and it looks like we were in the clouds.

I purchased a 3 year warranty, I just don't want to give it up for the time required to service it. I don't think anyone locally works on Sony.

Is the condensation still in the camera? I think I read in the manual where that can happen and that you just have to wait for it to dry out. I am not sure, but seems to me like any camera would do that. In my old manual for my DSC-S85 it basically said the same thing. You might just try calling Sony and see if their techs can offer any suggestions, if not you may just have to wait for them to fix it. I would much rather wait then take a chance of trying to fix it on my own and messing it up even more...which would require service no matter what. Is your three year warranty with Sony, or the store you bought it at? If it's the store...like Best Buy or something, they may just replace it for you.

No offence, but I don't think that is a particularly intelligent move.

Definately wouldn't want to invalidate the warranty by fiddling with it that's for sure.

At least you got the extended warranty...I was not that smart....I just keep my fingers crossed now.
I would send it in.

I don't know if this helps, but I just had my Sony fixed for the recall. It took 3 days. Sony sent me a FedEx packing slip, fixed it the next day and FedEx (overnight) back to me.
My advice - call Sony, give it up for 3 days, it's worth it! (plus they cleaned up the camera all nice and spiffy, too!)

Update. Problem solved. I took it back to where I bought it and because I have only owned it for 40 days or so...and...I had the extended warranty, they let me exchange it for a new one. I'm happy and planning on giving them more business.
Thanks for all the input.

Hey, now that we're interested in the problem, the problem's gone!

Glad you got the problem fixed...it totally bites when your camera isn't functioning correctly.
