OK Who's in?

There was discussion in this thread where folks showed an interest in a Chi-Town outing.

I will keep this top thread updated with the Who, What, When, and Where, no need to cover Why.

Here is my vision - let me know if yours is different, as this is the first time I have done this, and I welcome suggestions.

Meet on the steps of The Art Institute, 111 South Michigan Ave, Saturday, May 6th at 11:00am, and from there we can hit some of the spots below.

Millennium Park
Chicago Cultural Center - we can get the cta bus/train passes here.
Buckingham Fountain
Navy Pier/Lake Front
The Museum Campus - Nice views of the city from this area(This includes The Shed Aquarium, The Field Museum and The Adler Planitarium - but entrance fees can be pricy)
Lincoln Park Zoo (No admission fee)
Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum
Michigan Avenue (Tulip Days will be going on)
End the adventure at the 95th floor of The John Hancock.

All of these spots are within a 3 mile radius, but it would be hard to walk it all. So, I figuerd to make it easy to get around we could all purchase 1 day Bus/Train passes for 5$, that way we could also get some cool bus/train pics. I think admission to the top of the Hancock is about $9.95. Parking in the nearby Millennium garage is $16 for the day. Here is a link to a map of the area if you need it - Area Map

I have to check with my hubby about his calendar, but certainly mark me as interested!! It's been too long since I was downtown.

Mark me down as a maybe, but it's really too far away for me to tell right now. It all depends on if I can find a way to get there and back, but if I can find a way, I will definitely come.

I have heard about an Aquarium there that is supposed to be state of the art, and very close to that pier. I think it is sheds aquarium or something like that. Just thought I would mention it for all the people with fancy lenses. I cant even imagine how I would get a decent picture, behind glass, and really dark. Sharks though...you don't see alot of those on here.

<---tenative, St.Louis...so it shouldn't be that hard to get there.

I don't think I have anything going on, and that's my turf (I had planned on maybe the KY gtg, but this will be a lot easier for me); please count me in. I've been wanting to join a group of DPCers for a gtg for a long time now. Awesome! See ya then!

i will tell you now (from experience) the shed is not worth going to for photography...unless you do the dolphin show....its up to you guys but it really isn't as much fun as just meeting together and taking pics.

There was also talk of getting together in August when Setzler is in Chicago for the Tut exhibit.

It's the Shedd Aquarium and it is very nice, but IMO, would be a very large investment of time and money that I personally would rather pass on. My opinion is biased by the fact that I was just there a few weeks ago. Though my family had fun, I would have rather invested my picture-taking efforts around the city. Here are a few of my shots from the Shedd:

Since we'll be puchasing the $5 day pass for L/bus (I definitely prefer the L); we could get a few photos inside the cultural center (where we buy the passes). They have a gorgeous stained glass ceiling.

Yea! We are finally building steam, I was a bit worried at first...

Anyway, I have added everyone that was interested to the top thread. And I will continue to update that one with info and pertinent links.

Yup. I got married in that building. Gorgeous mosaics on the walls, too.
