I recently purchased the pro version of neat image and see that it does wonders for noisy pictures. Just a quick question:

When shooting in RAW, do pre-saved profiles in neat image do anything? I'm adjusting exposure for every picture when converting from RAW, so I'm assuming that each pic has to have its own unique profile. This has been very time consuming, so is there any other shortcut? Am off on my assumptions? I've tried using profiles with RAW files and they just don't cut out the noise, and the finetune feature doesn't help.

Any tips?

Not entirely clear what you are asking, but I just autoprofile every image in NI and tinker from there. It saves the noise profile, but I don't go back and reuse them ever.

I always shoot RAW, and at a wedding in May I shot a 20D and 30D at ISO 400 to 1600 (it varied). Had hundreds of files to de-noise.

I used DPP to WB and exposure adjust and then used that to make JPGs. I then batched the JPGs in NI, one big directory full of them, and went to bed.

The trick? I downloaded the noise profiles for the 20D and 30D from the NI website, put them where it told me and NI will find the profile for the camera/ISO and process accordingly.

Making your own profiles would be best, but I've not found it to be necessary.

I guess my question with the raw is: doesn't changing exposure when coverting from raw make each file unique, and therefore makes the profiles from the website not apply to the images?
