Anyone know of any studio management software that tracks clients, etc. thats under $150?

Have you considered Quickbooks Pro? It is all about database and can be tailored and configured to do just about anything. Versions 5.0 & 6.0 are dirt cheap on ebay, and 2006 can be had well under your budget.
If automotive shops (not mine) can use it to manage inventory, jobs, payroll, marketing, referrals, accounts receivable/payable, etc etc, what you are asking for would be simple by comparison.

Open office, and a whole bunch-o-linked spreadsheets? :-).

Seriously though. If you're confident driving a spreadsheet and you're just starting out with your business, using a spreadsheet or five is not a bad way to go. Once things are up and running you can import .csv files to pretty much any accounting package you might shake a stick at.

Just my 2c worth, it works for me and my part time business exploits....

BlinkBid is also a decent program and about $60-90.
