Yet another photog with an eye for the world...and yet has no time for DPC.

Oh well.

I think Manny is as close as DPCers get to Steve McCurry. I believe they call it, "the veil shot"?

I've been posting McCurry threads for a while but they're only met by blank stares and a return to normal daily affairs.

I hope this thread does better.

Yup Manny is as close as we get!

On another note if you want to hear Steve McCurry speak and show his photos you can sign up to one of the many Silversea cruises ($$$$) where he is a guest entertainer/speaker...

He spoke at the 2003 Canadian Camera Conference in Ottawa. Very personable. After his show and tell he did a Q & A session.

C'mon the man got one shot that made him famous there are so many photographers here that could best him on any given day. Not to take anything from the man but he only has what...2 maybe 3 ultra famous shots that people recognize. I could take him any day of the week...to lunch if he's buying. Seriously the guys incredible. I just hope he gets the humor here.

Do you really think his stuff would do well here?

the man is indeed a great photographer...but then again, there are many great photographers who work primarily in those regions of the world...which begs the question, how much of it is the photographer, and how much of it is the location?

I've admired this guy for quite a while. I have a number of his books and even a DVD on his work. Inspiring stuff - certainly there are many here who can be as equally as inspiring.
American Horse - I'm not sure I understand your posting. Has he made a comment about DPC or been approached by DPC ? Or do you just wish he would ? Not sure what you mean by "and yet has no time for DPC. "

I understand your point and i have thought about that myself but photographers like Steve McCurry just seem to have the ability to "connect" with his/her subject on a unique level which can be felt in their photograph's. And for me thats what sets them apart from the masses. And obviously the location play's a major role in what he produces, but its no coincidence he just happens to be in the right place at the right time a hell of a lot of the time.
