Some other shots from the same night as I took my entry - I was using a borrowed 5D with the 70-200 2.8 IS at 1600 ISO - oh my gosh what a beautiful lens/camera

My entry - happy enough with the result, but looking at the top finishers I should have made it B/W but I thought that was a bit too cliche

My entry was boring.

I had to choose between two cats -

entry - option 2 -

The thread referring to the number of cat pics in the challenge made me giggle.

I did enter a tiger picture from the Columbus Zoo. Man it is tough getting sharp pictures through the hand smudged filter (glass) of the viewing area.

much better composition than my entry, but not enough contrast.

This one was ok, but not as intersting of a subject.

I had entered this shot and then realized that it wasn't legal for a basic editing challenge because I had cloned out a telephone pole & wire at the extreme left margin. No worries, I decided, I'll just crop it a little closer after I get home from work and reupload it. But that was the day that I got a phone call at work with the news that my wife was having emergency surgery in Atlanta (we live in Virginia), and so I was on a plane before lunch, not to return home for six days. Brenda is much better now, by the way.

BTW, what's up with the Original Poster of this thread?

we had a poll a while back asking if we wanted the outtake thread to be automatically generated - and apparently we said yes.

I gotta pay closer attention! Thanks.

I didn't enter this one because I wasn't sure that it was high contrast, but I can't imagine it doing worse than the one I did enter.
