Outtake:

This is the one I really wanted to enter, but I thought eye contact with the camera was fairly crucial for a portrait. But then the blue ribbon destroys that preconceived notion.....

Here is my entry:

The original version .. yes .. she has beautiful skin that I'd die for!

My entry

my outtake

Both taken at Rainbow's End Fun Park. The Michael Jackson impersonator was a real hit with the kids. Thrush was fossicking round in the undergrowth, totally unworried about the crowds of people just a few feet away.

I do like your submission more than the outtake, (for this challenge), but I also sit in the group that prefers good eye visibility in portrait challenges.

This one I pulled shortly before the deadline for the same reasons.

I found the right eye not strong enough.

my entry:

which I regretted later, the light is too blown out. Oh well :-D

Here is my original entry (which I thought would do better than it did):

You should've entered the last one...very strong composition, lovely softness to it. your original entry is one of many IMHO :-)

Hmmm. . at thumbnail size number 4 is a clear winner for me, but at full size it probably lacks a little focus/dof (as does 2). So of all of them I think the two that are technically best are probably 1 & 3, of these I would probably also have gone for number 1.

But if you could have retaken 4 with a little more sharpness and dof I think it would have been the best and unlike any other entry.

Most of the time I want every picture to be sharp. But in this case I don't mind the out of focus at all. It contributes to the dreamy feeling.

I still prefer my original entry though...

We had a ton of fun shooting for this challenge. Outtakes are largely playing around with processing for different effects, at least one of which I wouldn't have submitted because it's a duotone with colors other than B&W.

Puckzzz, Jedusi, thanks so much for your input. I appreciate the thoughts you shared. I did not enter #4 because I thought it would not be considered "portrait" enough and a little post processing would have cleaned it up.
