Well, I took the leap and upgraded from a 10D to a 5D today.....I am very excited. Is there anything better than getting new gear?

Yahooooooooooo

don't know your finances, but I love my 30d but given the choise I would take my wife's 5d in a second! it is sooooo nice. But hell if you can afford a mark II who could argue with that.

Which Mk II? The 1DsMkII? If so, do recognize that the 5D image quality is so close to the 1DsMkII that it's not funny. It actually may be better in the noise department, and the weaker AA filter in the 5D means it records almost as much detail (the difference is *very* hard to see). Weather sealing and a few other 1-series niceties aside, the 5D is much more bang for the buck.
The 1DMkII vs. 5D is a non-comparison, the only reason to go with the 1DmkII is for high frame rate.

Then the question becomes, should people wait until the Mark III comes out in the next few months? Wouldn't that have an effect on the price of the Mark II? Or are we not talking about the Mark II N?

I was under the impression the AF of the 1d2 is a lot better too, but I'm really not too sure.

Congrats Jeff, and welcome to Club 5D! I also upgraded from the 10D, and though I always regarded the 10D as a *very* good camera, the 5D is just light-years beyond it. Enjoy!

How about getting new gear for free?

Getting new gear AND having great photo ops?

Anyway, congrats on the new camera Jeff! I'm sure you'll love it.

Thanks Mick.....

For free would be nice, but this will work.....

And no I didn't look at the 30D, the 5 looked like the happy medium for me......
