Why didn't I enter one of these? *slaps forehead*

But no, stupid me had to enter this instead

My entry, which did so so.

What I would have, should have, could have...

I went for humour in my entry:

Would a more traditional shot have been better:

I had tough choices to make for this one, though the one I went with I felt certainly was the right way to go.

Not complaining about my score but from looking at the 24 images that finished above mine I think I could have chosen better.

Outtakes (all minimal editing):

This was the one I probably should have entered, it was a toss-up between this and my entry.

Think I was right not to enter this one seeing as my entry did manage over 5. Grossed a LOT of people out though.

Those darn "coulda, shoulda, woulda's" ... :D

I like this a little better also.

here is one of my outtakes,

Tarantulas only eat 1-2 times per every two weeks, I was very lucky to get this, because he hasn't eaten since. Shot through the aquarium, I'm not too comfotable with holding him, quite yet. I am working on that though. I chose b&w because that gave better quality through the glass, and being minimal editing. I will be posting more of this guy in color.

I have no outtakes, my dog ate my bug after my first shot (and it took me all week to find that one!).

I agree - this one has really nice color and composition - would have given this at least an 9

The traditional shot would have scored better, but when I was voting, I really enjoyed looking at something different.

I had a great day at the Wild Animal Park's butterfly exhibit.

A new PB....

My Entry

Since a few commenters mentioned that they would like to see my entry in color here it is:

This is the only color picture I took with THIS particular pose and position. The other shots were taken B&W.

I went back and counted how many shots I took in the two hour span that it took me to get the best results:

130 photos and only two are the best of the bunch.

Other outtakes

And I had two other really creative conceptual shots that I am putting on the backburner until I can really get them to shine and do them justice.

I think this one is the best
The reasons are because it shows some stunningly wonderful details on the insect and it's environment.

Thanks for the input... I need to make these decisions before entering the challenge.

This is the one I really hoped I could use when I shot it, but it needed lots of editing... and still needs lots more editing, but I dunno how!

Here's a photo I took around a year ago which I'd have entered if I could..

It's not bad for a cameraphone pic I think. Interested to hear what you all think though.

I had soo many choices. The colours on these will look different because they are a Lightroom export from the raw files rather than based on the JPEG original like my entry was.

This one was possibly my favourite but it needed cropping sooooo badly:

I'm not sure if my outtake would have done better but figured I would error on the side of caution for fear of the DNMC police and go with the adult :P
