OK - My wife will be long gone to Thailand and I might actually have someone who will take my kids for me overnight and all day Friday which means there is a chance that I could be in Pitts Friday evening and then drive home Saturday. Is there anyone that would let me crash at their place to save me a couple of bucks if I can confirm my childcare situation?

I'm sure we could find a 5x5 open spot of carpeting for you, Tim. :)

Remind me that I made this offer so I can inform my wife about it, though!

So is this on Saturday the 14th or Sunday the 15th? If its Sunday, I don't think I can make it since its a 4 hour drive for me to get there, but I'd really like to make it.

I know...that's why I had to ask because Saturday is much easier for me.

Well, my TWO Personal Best photos were taken in Pennsylvania. So if my wife doesn't have anything scheduled, I'll go! I'm not sure about Meta-Tate.

Is Alan Guaranteeing running water for any named Falls areas? Frank Loyd Wright's Falling Waters must have some, but I don't think it is nearby. How do you get the odor of dead fish out of tripod legs, maybe Fabreeze?

yeah it's on sunday the 15th-NOT saturday. we're gonna meet up at 11am. or if you can't get there then, then we'll meet up when you get there.

so how many people CAN make it on sunday the 15th?

Soooooooo what are the implications of moving it to Saturday? Does that screw anyone up?

Taking a quick skim through the thread, it seemed like the only person who had *some* sort of plan for Saturday was me. But I can still do it on Saturday. I'd just have to leave at a reasonable hour, like 5-ish, to be back for a pool party for my daughter's softball team.

And that might mean asking someone else to take Jarod back into the city. But other than that... any reason we can't just bump it to Saturday? I'd really enjoy seeing the Ohio gang, and others who said they could make it that day!

If it were Saturday I would end up leaving right around if not a bit earlier than you Alan. But this is all still depending on my babysitting situation.

Saturday works much better for me. Can we see if it can be moved?

I can do Saturday, but not Sunday.

But I think that Jared (who actually started this thread) has classes on Saturday and couldn't make it.
07/02/2007 06:22:07 PM · #37
He's just starting college, so perhaps he needs to learn the art of blowing off class...? :) Let's see what he says...

It seems like Saturday is a much better day for *most* everyone, from what I'm sensing.

Yeah, he's gonna skip a class eventually, might as well get the first one out of the way. :)

I was just excited when this idea first came up. Being in retail, it's tough to get Saturday's off, and it just so happens that the 14th is my Saturday in the rotation. I had a great time at the NE PA GTG so I'd love to attend another.

ha, thanks alan-my mom will be really happy you said that! lol

I got my preliminary schedule and i DO NOT have classes on saturday. so yes, we can move it to saturday. i just didn't want to screw everyone over who could make it on sunday, by changing it. but it looks like it's fine since not many people can make it that day.

like alan said, the only thing is finding a way for me to get there. I have 5 other roommates and only 1 of them is stupid and bringing a car and paying $14/day to park downtown but he doesn't have class on fridays and is leaving to come back to Ohio every weekend(he gets very very homesick apparently). I have a friend in NY who would usually be more than happy to take me but he has a golf outing that weekend. like i said, i will be right downtown at the Art Institute on Boulevard of the Allies. My dorm is a couple blocks awa but I could meet someone wherever. Anyone willing to pick me up/take me back since it looks like Alan can't?

So to get this straight, it has changed to SATURDAY JULY 14TH. Are we keeping the same time of 11am?

Woohoo! Saturday it is. I'll even try to remember to bring my tripod to the waterfall GTG this time. :)

Are we doing the picnic thing, or are we just gonna get straight to the photography since some people have to leave early?
07/02/2007 06:48:16 PM · #41
Well I guess the picnic just depends on how many people will be there at or around 11. Last time the picnic was very nice-especially with Tim as our chef! :) I say we do the picnic-it'll save everyone money and a trip driving to find a place to eat.

Yea!!! Saturday it is!!! Yea!!!

I can bring the chocolate brownies if Alan brings the blonde brownies!!
07/02/2007 06:51:04 PM · #43
Yep, I think Alan has a standing order to bring his wife's brownies to any and all GTGs.
07/02/2007 07:04:37 PM · #44
I will bring chips(doritoes. lays, etc) and some 2 liters of pop. I will probably bring (4) 2 liters.
-still lookin for a ride though! :)

I'm actually working my way through a semi-failed batch of those brownies right now! She made some a couple days ago, and they didn't quite set fully... so they're really gooey. And that ain't a bad thing. I'm going to nuke a couple and melt them under ice cream.......... ok, I'm drooling on the keyboard now.

Anyway, cool... let's officially plan on Saturday then. I can pick Jared up in the morning... but if someone else can run him back into the city, that would certainly be helpful.

And I would definitely suggest the picnic as a good idea because there's really not anywhere to go to eat nearby. I shall bring brownies, and I have a small grill I'll toss in. Would burgers and whatnot work? That would be easy enough...

I am suggesting meeting at the spot I mentioned above, which is a short walk to a waterfall. We can get together, go shoot the falls, and come back and do the picnic thing. From here we'll need to drive to the next "photogenic" area a couple miles away.
07/02/2007 07:09:29 PM · #47
I'll bring plates/cups.

Now I'm getting hungry thinking of gooey brownies over ice cream. Thanks, Alan.

And yes, I would suggest keeping it at 11:00... especially with people coming from several hours away in OH and so forth. I'm fine with bumping it earlier if those folks are early birds and prefer to get an earlier start... I'll probably plan on being up at the park earlier anyway.
