shooting aircraft @ duxford and the shutter kept firing off even tho' i'd stopped..

tried trouble shooting, took battery grip off, tried 1 batt (fresh) same trouble, removed lens, same..

called Canon who said it was a incompatiblity with my lens, but then when i said there was no lens and it was still doing it, said the shutter was faulty and needs to be replaced :(

week and half without my camera!! what am i going to do! :(

I know how you feel, I've been having similar issues, but unluckily for me it's not covered by insurance :o/

Actually, I've had a quick squizz at rental prices, and if you're doing paid work it'd make sense to rent for a weekend (£120 for a 5D...)

I had that happen once ... my boy was shooting the 20D and I the 5D on a bridal shoot. The 20D suddenly went crazy taking pictures. Feeling rushed, I couldn't figure it out right then, so we took the battery out and he ended up not shooting the rest of the evening. Later, putting a fresh set of batteries in, it worked fine and that camera hasn't had a problem since. (it's probably been a year)

So... was it that the batteries were taken out for the evening, or was it that newly charged batteries were put in their place, or just a freak of nature? I have no idea. But at least it cleared itself up.

How much does a new shutter cost? I'm just curious.

the support guy from Canon went through a checklist, appartently it can be a number of things that cause the shutter to keep firing from a duff conection with the lens, battery is worn etc, but when i went through the trouble shooting i did when it all happend, he told me to send it off for a service and replacement shutter..

Same thing with my 20D, but EIGHT weeks before I am to get it back. New shutter as well! On the good news my Mark III should arrive before the 20D is back
