Users xXxscarletxXx and Alley Cat have been removed from DPC, effective immediately.

Amy (xXxscarletxXx) was suspended several months ago for stealing DPC images, modifying and posting them as if they were her own to other websites without permission or credit. An immediate surge in activity on her sister's account (Alley Cat) (during school hours, with the same camera and processing techniques) led us to strongly suspect that she was using that account to continue participating. Our suspicions have been recently confirmed through evidence discovered via further investigation.

To impersonate another person, and to allow oneself to be impersonated in order to circumvent a properly imposed suspension is a serious breach of the ToS, and both users have been permanently banned from DPC.

The results of the following challenges have been recalculated:

Sea (not land)
Weekend
Vanishing Point II

We sincerely regret this situation and have posted this note in an attempt to better demonstrate our processes and, at the same time, stem criticism of our actions. This is not a decision we took lightly.

Thanks,
Rob - on behalf of the SC

Thanks again, SC. You put up with a lot of garbage from them, which was exactly what you should have done. And now, you're again doing exactly what you should do, focusing on the right thing: not what they said, but how they violated important rules.

However, could you please DQ someone above me in Sea so I'll again be above the 50th percentile? ;)

Sucks for them, glad you guys are on your game still.

Great job SC!

Thank you SC....I suspected scarlett was using ally's account but didn't say anything. The images were just too similar in processing.

WOW, i knew there was something wrong, so sad she had to resort to that she was a good photographer.

Thats a shame, waste of talent. Understandable though.

good work SC, kudos to all the work you put in and I am sure you investigated everything thoroughly. I would hope in the future, DPC members who are caught stealing images and manipulating them and posting them as their own elsewhere comes with even stiffer penalties and are banned. Just my two cents.

I had no idea why Amy was banned in the first place ... now that I've read the OP it makes me really sad to know that one of our own was stealing images from the great photographers in this community ...

WOW.... Stealing images? ... She didn't seem the type to stoop so low.

Hats off to the SC for that.

What I would like to know, is if the owners of the pics she stole were notified?
07/24/2007 06:26:29 PM · #23
I'm speechless.

The photos, as I recall, were removed very quickly once discovered so some may know, but others may not.
