What do folks use to track, sort and organize their fotos.

I recently discovered that I really need to keep my fotos in an organized way. :P

I have fotos from 2004 and I would really like to find them easily.

Does the program you use track if the fotos are on a disk?

In the past I have just burnt the bad boys on a DVD, created contact sheets for the DVD, and then threw them into a folder. This works but is a really, really long process.

I figured we're in the 21st century now and there has to be a better way to track fotos.

Any ideas out there?

Cool, will check it out.

Is there something that is just a straight up management app without any additional features like foto editing?

I use cs3 and I would not use any other app to edit stuff.

Thanks for the post!

I use Picasa, and it is an amazing program. It is very easy to see all the photos on your computer through this browser. You are also able to edit within the program. I highly recommend it.

//picasa.google.com/

Picasa is a free software download from Google that helps you:

* Locate and organise all the photos on your computer.
* Edit and add effects to your photos with a few simple clicks.
* Share your photos with others through email, prints and on the web: it’s fast, easy and free.

*added Picasa quote*

Picasa works by creating a thumbnail folder on your computer, which is great if your camera outputs large files, because the thumbnails load a lot quicker. It will definitely display all the images on a cd and dvd if you import them. You can also organize folders by moving/combining them using Picasa.

You won't be able to reorganize a CD or DVD because they are permanent. If you were going to use Picasa, I would suggest copying it to your local computer, organizing the folders and photos, and then re-burning a cd or DVD.

So far, ACDsee Pro 2 is looking pretty awesome. Seems to be exactly what I am looking for.
