Hi! I moved to Chattanooga, TN this summer, and would love to get together with anyone in the area. I've met some of you at two Atlanta GTG's (I'll miss seeing you, jenesis!), and would love to meet the others.

I know December is a crazy time, so maybe we could aim for a date in January.

I'll take recommendations on where to shoot, although I've heard that Racoon Mountain is amazing. We could also do urban type shots.

Anyone up for it?

Here's who I have so far - note that some of these are "maybe's", but all have expressed interest:

rossbilly
rocke
KevinRiggs
rex
ericwoo

TCGuru
BubbaJon
mawear
wetland
thomaspeople

Set for January 19th (and 20th for those who want to double up)

Forgot to mention - I'm very open to travelling a bit outside Chatt. I'm just trying to get to know my new part of the world a bit better, but it needn't be exactly in town if you have a great idea.

Sounds like fun. I used to live in Tennessee, some beautiful places around there. Maybe there will be a 'warm' Saturday. I could drive up from Atlanta, only 2 hours...let me know, never been to one of these!

We'd love to have you, photom! We'll take suggestions about where to go as well.

Here's a bit about Racoon Mountain resevoir, which as I understand it is basically a place where the TVA stores water when it creates extra extra energy at the Chickamauga Dam; it can release the water from the top of the mountain when it needs to create more energy. Pretty cool.

Bebe, et al.
Thanks for the PM. I'm interested in getting together and I'll pass along the info to some other locals, too. There are many places to photograph around the area but here are some of the places I've been.

Nature & Landscapes:
Chickamauga National Battlefield Mild rolling hills, some split-rail fencing, a few log cabins & some monuments.

Cloudland Canyon in Dade Co, Ga There are a few nice views of the valleys from up there but I've heard the waterfall is non-existent and its a hike down & back up

Prater's Mill A couple of older buildings but some forest-cluttered backgrounds. Nice spillway with a usually smooth surface.

Chattanooga Nature Center (link)

Urban Locations:
Walnut Street Walking bridge (link)

Old City This is where the historic Chattanooga Choo-Choo is . . . well, at least the rail hub that was later converted to a hotel & restaurant on the rails. There are numerous buildings, railcars and tracks around here.

Yeah...me as a DD. The last time I tried to DD, I made the mistake of thinking it was the Designated Drinker. Anyway, the GTG sounds good to me. 19th and 20th are good for me as well. Let me know when the dates are finalized, and I'll book me somewheres to sleep.

How far is that from Charlotte, NC? I have a feeling it's a bit too far for a day trip. I'm from southern California and will be in Charlotte for a week (Dec 2-9)

Thanks Eric!

How are the dates looking for everyone? I can probably only do one day, so I'd join in on either the 19th or the 20th. Are these good for everyone here?

If anyone knows more people in this area or Atlanta (it's really not far - I do it regularly), I'd love it if you could pm them.

Of course the dates look good for me. No tsure if the wife and kids are coming though. Also I may try and get a hotel room and stay overnight and hang for two days.

Hey y'all. I don't post often - just lurk. Kevin PM'd me.
Sounds like a fun idea. Is it Dec or Jan we're talking the 19/20th?
It'll be fun to meet some new faces - just missed being introduced to rossbilly the other day at Red's, seen Rocke's work (good stuff).
Locally I DBA Rezolution Photo - y'all may have seen some of my work on MM.
regards,
Jon

PS: Quite frankly Raccoon Mtn wouldn't be my first choice of a meetup place this time of year - pretty barren. There's a park off Hamill Rd that has some pretty nice trails and a nice quarry with water. Just a suggestion...
