Sorry, got a little rhyme crazy. For those who are interested in a side challenge for the entire year of 2008 to help motivate you to participate more, I propose a head-to-head Open Challenge marathon competition. Originally I needed to motivate myself but am willing to help organize a more structured competition for up to 9 more "pairs" for a total of 10 head-to-head competitions.

The rules are simple. You and your competitor will compete in the open challenges for the given month. The highest score for that month wins and the loser has to take a photo decided by and voted on by the winners of the competition. Only open challenges can be used for scoring which opens competition to both members and non-members. The scores will apply to the month when the challenge was announced. The first contest will begin with the announcement of next weeks open challenges.

Proposed line-up... Discussion is open for final format/competition line-up.

TCGuru vs. DowseDesigns.
Karmat vs. BAMartin
snowflakejen vs. briantammy
levyj413 vs. ryand
basssman7 vs. Rooster
Bear_Music vs. timfythetoo
BHuseman vs. loseme
hywind vs. PapaBob
Budya vs. ErikV
hipychik vs. Kelli

ETA: You will compete with your competitor for the entire year so please only post if you're willing to dedicate some time to participating.

Okay, I'm probably going to regret this, but I've been here 5 years (and counting) so one more won't hurt (too badly, maybe).

I'm in.

is this for a year? or a month?

Well I will probably regret this as well, but I would love to compete with (err, against) Karmat. Her average is higher than mine and she has a few ribbons, this is just the motivator I need. Please do not be too hard on me when you win Karma.

Highest score for the month counts... runs all year.

I would consider this if it were Free Studies and I was guaranteed a win each month against a really weak opponent!!

Sounds like a great motivator - I'll play.

don't know if anyone else want to "commit" to it, but I would be willing to also to comment on all of my "opponents" (re: butt kicker's) entries after voting ends. For example, after roll over, I will seek out Barbara's and leave her a comment -- not necessarily a multi-page critique, but more than a "nice shot."

Awww... come on.. you would be a good solid competitor. Free Studies have their own thing. Sneezy just started the League of Death for member challenges... This is open to everyone... no membership required.

Even if no one else will commit to this, it sounds great to me. We have our own side side challenge :-)

I've been a little to serious about my entries up to now. I think it's time for a little fun. I'll give it a shot.

one thing i like about this one (and achoo's elimination of death and scotts free study marathon) is that it uses challenges for the basis of the side challenge. :) that way, i'm not shooting for a side challenge, the dpc challenge and real life stuff. i can combine two of them.

also forces me to be a bit more "intense" and raises my personal bar a bit.

I'm in. :)

It's your best score against your opponent's best score, regardless of how many open challenges you enter in a month, right?

We compete against the same person for a year? That seems a little boring. Can't we mix it up each month?

Not against a D200!! Do you think I am Mad!! I need medication and someone who scores like me! If so, yes!

If D200, I am a born loser:)
