I don't really have too much to say about trip to Iraq other than the fact that im glad its over. I was fortunate enough to have great marines that went over there with me and hooked me up with flying a few times. Very greatful about that. The following pictures were taken on the 12th of Jan 2008. I flew with HMLA-773 who are on their first deployment to Iraq.
Take off and prior to take off:

Some fish eye shots from inside of the aircraft:

The escorting Cobra:

Im glad we flew in the late afternoon/early evening. the sun at any earlier hour is just too harsh to get many good photos. you can see in one photo where one of the crew is pushing a box out of the aircraft. that is food and supplies we dropped to one of the small villages we flew over. as soon as we flew by and the children saw something fall out of the aircraft they came running towards it. Its dangerous work what these flying squadrons are doing, but it is absolutely necessary to support the troops on the ground.

I love the picture of the Cobra turning away from the sun.

Also, is that guy throwing a bottle of apple juice out the chopper?

Amazing stuff -- you could probably make a mint off of submitting these to stock agencies! Thanks for sharing, and glad you're home!

Very interesting birds-eye view of Iraq!
This image in particular makes me clench up - it looks pretty scary sitting there right at the edge of a moving helicopter!

Hey Cory - very nice work! I'm terribly envious of the light you had - way better than the usual full-on entirely-too-bright light normally encountered. And yeah, you can sell some of this stuff!

That is a great tour. I imagine you got lots of sand in your camera?

not as much as you would think, the mk3 is very reliable as far as keeping the dust away from sensitive places. just have to keep lens swapping to a minimum

thanks all for the kind comments
