A few weeks ago I started a thread asking folks to go to a site and see if they recognized any images. My local photography group had reason to believe that one of its members was infringing on people's copyrights.

The thread was HERE.

After many manhours of searching, we were able to find approximately 10 of the images on other photraphers' sites, who legitimately claimed the copyright. There is no doubt that the majority of the images on the site are stolen, it just takes an trememdous amount of time to track them down.

We contacted this individual to tell him the group leaders wanted to meet with him about this and to give him a chance to defend himself. He first pulled down his site with a disclaimer that he has found out others are stealing his images and then posted a message in out group forum that the "people" that do his web site put pictures up that were not his.

He did not show up at our meeting.

Several organizations we contacted want to move forward legal action.

In the end, this ordeal has made me realize just how many images there are out there on the web, and just how much very fine photography there is. The scary part is that I am sure there are others out there benefiting from the work of others.

I want to thank all of you that helped,

Good work.

I sure wouldn't want to be in that person's shoes.

Take care

Unbelievable. I'm glad the site was pulled. At least he knows now that people are watching.
