It's not hard to find them at rollover since more people are voting.

A) Go to who's online
B) use tab browsing and open up 20-30 users each in a new tab
C) peruse avg. vote cast, toss anybody who's average is higher than 5.0
D) refresh users to see if their avg. vote cast changes. If it changes down, they are possibly trolling.

With about 3 minutes I found a guy who voted an average of 2.0 over 10 votes.

Just a fun pasttime...

I love it!

But it is a sad commentary upon the result of boredom...the edge of insanity...

Now if you can just put that info to use...

He or she may have only been voting on all the entrants that he or she thought deserved a 2--- then go and vote on all that deserve a 3 and so on?--- perhaps.
I often look at all the entrants and vote only on all the 10s first, then go back and vote on 9s etc ---

this thread is dumb. It seems like if you have found a troll just report it. Do you check their score through out the rest of the week and then after rollover to see if it's scrubbed? I have found comments that said someone gave a photo a 1 for some reason and looked at their votes without a 1 on it. Even if they do do this it would hit everyone and wouldn't have a difference on placing. My last challenge entry had 233 votes. This one vote had little effect on my overall score. Who cares? It doesn't prove much, you don't know what they are voting on as said by robst. I believe the scrubber does its job. My two cents.

Some people spend far too much time at this site.

I agree - what purpose does it serve other than to rile people up hunting for an elusive non-entity.

The trolling is getting stupid these days - imho it shouldn't need users to do as Achoo says because the SC should be doing something to address this problem.

I'm particularly p'd off because my panning shot didn't break a 6 because of unusually high votes at the 1, 2 and 3 end of things. Whether people thought my photo was bad, or whether they are tactically voting to bring their own photos up I have no idea....but it's wrong and extremely demotivating:

Judi's Blue: 1x1, 1x2, 1x3
Achoo's Red: 1x1, 0x2, 3x3
Focus's Yel: 1x1, 2x1, 3x4

If people can't use the voting properly and REPEATEDLY do this, then they should receive a warning. 3 strikes and you're out. What's so wrong with this?

My own entry did a 5.9 and would have turned a 6 had I not received 1x1, 5x2, 3x3:

All I'm saying is that people that repeatedly vote 1s when they should be voting something more towards the average (i.e. unreasonable voting under any taste) should be monitored. It's not fair to allow this kind of behaviour to ruin everyone else's progress.

I know this will sound sh!tty, but if it continues then I'll start tactically voting too. Why should I be subject to this behaviour and not retaliate if there's no recrimination from it?

I would just like it if the people handing out low votes would leave some feedback as to why the give those votes. I know, dream on. I suspect the majority of those voters don't even frequent the forums to read this.

IMO those who score people 3 or less should be required to leave a comment. If a photo is that far down then there must be a reasonable explanation as to why the voter felt that way. If people are intentionally voting down others to hope for a higher ranking themselves that's sad and thier own photo is probably not that good anyway. I think the admin people should seriously consider banning such practices by finding them somehow ( I am not a tech guy but I am sure someone can figure out a way). Anyway, that's my two cents.......

Oh Doc you have too much time on your hands..... what will you do when you have hunted down your trolls? Crucify them? :)))
02/20/2008 05:15:52 PM · #16
If trolls spread out 1's and 2's evenly an indiscriminately we should be ok.

I give lots of 1s and 2s and since the scale is from 1 to 10 why should i be forced to leave a comment on anything i rate less than 4 while i am not required to do so when I leave score more than 8.
I vote from my personal bias and I know since voting is subjective thing, its all right to be biased.

I mentioned it in another thread. really if they are just voting low because they are low voters then there isn't anything to do but grin and bear it. But a number of these individuals are trying to manipulate scores. If that is sensed, then they get reported to SC.

Character is how you behave when no one's looking.

Come on, Nick. You don't behave badly because it's wrong, pure and simple.

I don't for a minute believe you vote honestly because you're afraid of getting caught voting dishonestly.
