I really goofed on this image. I had baby Ella standing and lights were adjusted for that, but didn't re-adjust when Ella dropped to the floor. The result was very dark eyes, no catchlights, and shadows around the eyes. I'd already passed it off as a loss when I felt the creative bug today.

I lightened everything (including the eyes) as much as I could which left a nice pastel. That I liked. But there were still ugly shadows around her eyes and eyes were still dark & dead. Once I decided to add fake catchlights I knew the entire image had to go "fantasy" because it would never look realistic after that. So I went nuts. :D

Did I go too far? Does it creep you out? lol

Note: No babies were harmed in the making of this image.

I'm torn between creepy and cute I think for what it is you've done a very good job of making it something completely new though.

I'm thinking though that maybe if I hadn't know about the lighting mistake my opinion might be different...

LOL A yes, a no, and a maybe. I love DPC. :D

Interesting side note: Besides the green, every color / shade of color that I added to the image, including the wings, backgrounds, etc., were all taken from her skin tones.

personally i love it. i think having one shot like this in a package for the parents would make it really special and fun, anymore than one though might not go over so well. :]

but i love the wings and the eyes look amazing in my opinion.

I think it's kind of cool actually, at least for one photo.

No fire, fangs or blood or weapons of any kind. :(

I think you did a good job of the recovery. I first thought it was a little too 'fake' and pretty creepy. The look on her face isn't a look i would associate with the face of a baby... she looks like she knows things.

You know what, i didnt even see teh wings or the logo or the swirl when i lookekd at the photo. On this laptop it was just not visable until i tilted the screen back some. I am now trying to work with the screen backwards, it sucks.

Are the wings and logo that visable to everyone else????????????????

Not as creepy as the psycho-doll lady, but...

Those...those eyes!

Like the pools to her soul, pouring out into my head, knowing what I am.

Those eyes. Those big, gorgeous eyes. Cutting away the darkness of my heart.

"Is she still looking at me?" I asked myself out loud.

It's stupid. It's maddening. It's only a picture. A toddler at that. But, those eyes are not natural.

God touched this child, giving her sight. Not the normal 20/20 vision that us mere humans have to muddle with. Not the type of sight that we must take care of. Her sight doesn't matter if some kid pokes an eye out with those scissors they are running with, or the on coming cloudiness of cataracts from old age.

This child's sight is to see.

She sees into the hearts of others. Strangers that pass her unknowingly are examined by her sight. She knows if you are sincere, or not. She knows if you are sorry, or not. She knows if you are good....or not.

"Is she looking at me.?" I ask again out loud. No one answers me but the echoes in my head.

Her eyes, they....the child....knows.

(nice work Cindi.)

I think baby Ella would look great if she were sitting on a big flower instead of the fluffy white....A nice soft pastel one.

Some of my favorite photos that I've done are the ones I mess up technically and take full creative control with PP. I love your photo. She'll love it too, when she grows up. It might scare her until she's about 5, though.

My niece, Montana, wrote in big letters on her front porch "NO EVIL MONTANA OGRES ALLOWED" after I showed her this one of her.

Creepy cute kids are cool!!

Crazy cool poem! :)

I like the idea of putting her on a flower. May play with that idea some more this evening. I'm thiking of adding a "line" of fantasy portraits to my website. I'll need a few more (less creepy) ones first. Guess I'll be burning the midnight oil..... as usual. :D

I had an art teacher in elementary school tell me one time, "There are no mistakes. Turn it into something that you meant to do."

It was liberating to me, as an 8 year old. Even more so, now, almost 30 years later. :)
