Juliet,
I agree with you about not doing the draft, it would be like when we were back in school and the geeky guy always got picked last... or worse, if the teams are full they wouldn't get picked at all. Just my opinion of course :)

But at least that geeky guy would have some good people on his team.

But if there are more than 8 people wanting to be on a particular team the geeky guy may not get to play at all!!

Then we will have very small teams lol

No seriously, i think that this is a good rule to go by. Again, this helps with not having Teams that have 8 Ribbon winners and some teams that have no ribbon winners on them.

I like to play fair in pretty much all of my life and the things I do, everybody deserves a chance to play, whether they are amazing or crap. Everyone has things that they can learn from any person on a team.

I have learnt things from you Dirt.

1. Self Portraits are good things
2. Never get into Excell
3. Go back to school and redo Kindergarten Math course

That can't happen in a draft. only 56 people can be in the draft, all players would get picked, all teams would have good, average and bad players on their teams. That would make 8 teams of 8 a total of 64 players. And there is no say as to what team you want to be on. The capt. picks you.

WTF? I understand that you want to avoid a "ribbon hogs" situation, but that is ridiculous. I have a ribbon, just one ribbon, and I am certainly no better than anyone else.

Well this way no more than 1 ribbon winner can be in the Team

Iceland right now has 8 Ribbon winners on there team.

So limiting it to 1 ribbon winner makes it fairer for the rest of the teams around

so now you can be the 1 ribbon holder on the Canadian Team.
04/08/2008 11:38:34 PM · #88
Team NZ have 5 ribbon winners and 1 with HMs. We're in 6th place. Hardly an unfair advantage to other teams.
04/08/2008 11:40:42 PM · #89
I appreciate the thought, but if you are limited to one ribbon holder than I would suggest you get someone like slippy. for the good of the Canadian pride. lol. my lonely little ribbon does not make me much of a powerhouse, compared to someone like Larus for example. that was my point. one ribbon does not mean much.

I think that if you said only one person per team that has more than 3 ribbons, it would make more sense. cause then the folks that fluked out and got a ribbon like me are not really counted as being a powerhouse.

does that make sense?

I think that anyone with any type of ribbon would be just as good as one person with only one ribbon. Whos to say you are not as good as the next person, you are.

But your post does have merit and food for thought, but then again, what if you had 7 people that only had 1 ribbon they would be allowed and 1 person with 3 ribbons.

I am just trying to make this as fair as possible to everybody, with or without ribbons.

what do you think?
04/08/2008 11:52:38 PM · #91
So what do you guys suggest to make it as fair as possible for everyone. What are you thoughts??
04/08/2008 11:55:43 PM · #92
The trouble with thw one ribbon rule is it is quite limiting for smaller countries like NZ. Only 2 of the Team NZ members dont have a ribbon so we would have to recruit again ,we dont have as many members as other countries. Potenetially it means that i will be unable to participate ( if i choose to ) because I was unable to find memebers who want to play but dont have a ribbon.
04/08/2008 11:55:58 PM · #93
on second thought... why not go with average scores?
04/08/2008 11:57:18 PM · #94
Or, difference from members' average scores...
04/08/2008 11:57:58 PM · #95
I am in for Islanders!
04/08/2008 11:58:46 PM · #96
ok, to make it more clear, what I mean is instead of limiting to one person with a ribbon, try and get teams that have a similar average score. Or only two folks with an average score above whatever.....

I understand where you are coming from, but maybe you could recruit again???? and there is the option of having one player from anywhere in the world

I think this is ridiculous sorry. I think it is totally unreasonable to expect us to rebuild our teams to include 1 ribbon winner only... There is only about 9 or 10 native Poles on DPC and most have ribbons so then what? we are not allowed to join? I know we are toying with ideas here but this one is not a very good one IMHO.

Build a team, stick with it, so what if Iceland have 8 ribbon winners, BRING IT ON ICELAND! bigger they are the harder they will fall.

Why do we need all these extra rules for anyway? We have our team and we will not like to be split up so if this rule holds we will not participate, we have made friendships and it would be wrong IMHO to split teams up over nothing.

So long as the members are originally from the motherland (with 1 exception even) I say it don't matter how many ribbons they have won.

Forgive my RANT but I would like it to be as simple as possible without splitting any teams up because of merit or awards.

I'll go USA if there is still room

I would like to join again IF you change the rules about this one ribbon holder... DonĀ“t really understand that rule though!!!?
