I too had 11 votes of 3 and under. Thats just the way it happens sometimes. Congrats on the PB!

I have to say that I was really disappointed in how many of the entries in this challenge made no attempt whatsoever to tell a story. They would be a picture of any old thing (sometimes wonderful pictures) and only the title told a story. The idea was that the picture itself should tell a story. The PICTURE, not the title, was supposed to WEAVE A TALE. So there should have been multiple elements in the picture that came together to tell a tale. In mine, for example, I put a "clothing optional" sign on a beach where someone was swimming in the background. I hung a bikini on the sign and placed a wine bottle, glasses and male swimming trunks at the sign's base. These elements, together, tell the story of a couple walking along a beach, drinking wine, who come across the "clothing optional" sign and, perhaps a bit tipsy from the wine, decide to take a skinny dip. The photo itself is not the best, I admit that. But the story is there. I'm just disappointed in how many of the entries that had no story actually did well - even if they were better pictures.

I agree....it's too bad a number of images that didn't tell a story weren't entered into the free study...I would have scored them much higher there. First and foremost I look for meeting criteria in the themed challenges. It may be a stunning image, but if it does not meet criteria....well, you get the picture.

I too was disappointed. I worked really hard to tell a story but was not rewarded for it.

BTW, yes yours wasn't the best photo technically but I really liked how it told a story and gave it an 8 because of the strong story.

Impilot - Your picture, for example, tells a story of a guy sitting on the toilet who suddenly realizes that there is no toilet paper left to clean himself with. The tense muscles show the shock and frustration. You can tell from that that he has already defacated and is now in a precarious position. The story is clearly present.

Thanks Moose. Yours was a strong story, too. My only advice on yours was that the earth beneath the stones was undisturbed. The picture told a story of sadness that appeared TO ME to be from a RECENT loss because of how the girl still needed comforting. So, when I looked at it, I just kept noticing that the earth had not been disturbed. But it was a strong story nonetheless and a great photo, too.
