Olah everybody. I'd like to know if you can do an HDR with one photo shot in RAW. Can you alter the exposure in several saved pics and then merge those to get the effect? I've tried and can't seem to get it to work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Yes, you can. You may have to "trick" the hdr software by stripping the EXIF out of the converted images. You could convert one RAW to three JPEGs, do Save for Web on each, and then process from there.

Or you can import the raw file into your hdr software and tone map the pseudo-hdr image that it makes.

Photomatix software from HDRsoft.com does this for you and does a pretty good job at it too.

When converting the raw image, make three different ones (exp. +2, 0, -2). If you are planing to use photomatix, you don't need to delete the Exif files.

Recently I found Dynamic-Photo HDR and LOVE IT. I will be buying the full version very soon...a rare thing for me cause of my strict budget and it's very nice price. This thing has so many options to let you play or just let it do it's thing if you don't wanna fuss much. I love the alignment tool if you have taken a series of photos at different exposures but didn't use a tripod (something I am known for lol).

When picking one single RAW it will let you pick if you want to do a pseudo-hdr or other. There is even a Photoshop plug in for working with single JPG images, but I haven't played with that much.

I've bought the program (rare thing for me, too). It's pretty good. ;-Þ
