Not the color - the concept. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Umm...is this a new idea or something? I should be wearing green or having green skin? ;)

All I need is a week between April 15th and November 15th. I am sure, if nothing else, I can have a good photo.

perhaps not a ribbon winner, but to the point most directly.

Can we make this an open challenge so there is a category for people not brainwashed by all the global warming nonsense?

Wow, you're suggesting those who care about the environment we live in ("reduce, reuse, recycle" is a campaign designed to reduce landfills and general trashing of the planet), are all brainwashed and are somehow all connected to global warming? Please don't put your politics into a challenge suggestion thread.

Cindi, I like the challenge idea. It leaves lots of room for creativity.

And sorry for coming back to this:

Because a dog told him so. ;\

BTW great idea for a challenge. I was shooting a street filled with recycle bins just last week and I have other ideas too.

You guys can go talk about Global warming and politics in this thread.

The challenge suggestion is a great one and doesn't have to be equated with global warming. The fact is that we should all be better stewards to our planet, whether you believe in global warming or not.

I would second this proposal. Anyone wishing to discuss the pros and cons of the global warming issue might consider opening yet another thread on this much discussed matter and go at each other hammer and tongs.

Sorry, I care about the environment we live in as well. I didn't realize there were others who didn't buy into the climate change myth while still caring about the environment.

I apologize for lumping you in with the gullible.

I think it's a requirement that the challenge suggester must enter ;)

As for me, I have exactly zero ideas for a shot.

I don't think the OP made any rules that would prevent you from lampooning the subject. I sincerely think it's a great idea. I haven't entered a challenge in a while but certainly enter this one.

Gee wiz, I was just answering a question. What good is a political topic if we don't discuss the politics behind it. Don't worry though, I will abandon this thread and leave you to your green dreams. (goes off singing kumbaya)

I'm just going to say one thing, and I mean no offense to anyone.

It is my opinion that people should be less opposed to free thought and debate here and not treat it as an offensive negative force. Just because this is a photo site does not mean we have somehow left the real world and real problems.

Debate is a good thing, if done correctly everyone wins. It is an exchanged of heated ideas and opinions.

You cannot forge a sword without a burning fire, so do not shy away from every source of heat you may encounter.

Thanks.

And with everything, there's a correct place and time for it. A Rant thread is a likely location for a political debate, not a challenge suggestion thread.

As for the OP...I think this challenge should be fun! :-)

...oh yeah, Cindi ( idnic)? You better pull a ribbon out of your hat for this one. He-he.

I think I need to put my oar in the water here. I personally believe that global climate change is real; however I am prepared to accept that I am wrong. So, I do a short risk analysis to decide what I should do.

First: If I am wrong and we aren't in trouble what is the risk that we, as a planet, do the things we know would save the planet. Then I imagine the risk of being right and doing nothing.

In the first case, we will spend a few decades learning how to do what we should have been doing for centuries, judiciously using the resources we have thus allowing our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren etc, to enjoy their share of the planet's limited wealth.

On the other hand, if global warming is real, and we do nothing, we will be trying to swim tethered to our SUVs in a flood not seen since, for example, Noah's time, among other hypothetical disasters too numerous and grisly to mention. I think most of us are aware of the Noah metaphor.

Great, let’s do a "Going Green" challenge. If someone wishes to take issue with the subject, then I think it is 100% appropriate that an entry take issue with the concept. After all, photographs are powerful tools for addressing controversial subjects.
