I'm working on going and would be flying from Orlando - so... come fly with me!

Austin to Orlando is a shorter flight anyway. :o) Prolly cheaper, too.

Deb, Icelandair fly code share with Lufthansa to Frankfurt. Don't know if that helps!

I think only Iceland Air flies to Iceland. Back when, I had to leave from Luxemburg. But now they also service Frankfurt, which shouldn't be too far for you.... a minute later... (I love booking flights, so I looked): Apparently Lufthansa flies to Reykjavik via Hamburg from Frankfurt. Probably with the fly code share Sarah was mentioning.

if you wanna go cheap on the flight you should check out iceland express they fly from all europe, also berlin and frankfurt. no food on the flight, but good service and reliable online-booking :)

was thinking and wondering what i would need to charge batteries there? i think they have 220 v not 110 where to get a charger?

Count me as interested. The sooner dates get locked in the better as airfares are steep and deals will be few. I see from Seattle they use Northwest Airlins so I may be able to use miles!

this may turn out to be one of the largest GTGs yet!! I think the dates will not change as far as the workshops go. I plan on staying at least 7 days, maybe 8. If I fly that far, I'm certainly going to be there more than 3. LOL

Alicia - isn't the flight from Orlando longer than from Boston? I'll go for whatever is cheaper. Anyone have recommendations for a place to stay, since I want to be there longer than the workshop? I looked online and there are some nice hotels. I think goodman and I are going to share a room. :~)

I also wondered bout electrical stuff as rider mentioned. Case in point: hair dryer. LOL

Here in iceland we have 230 volts.

As to accommadtion the best option is staying in a tent, it offers the most flexible way traveling, no booking and you allways stay close to the right places at the right time as you can pitch your tent where ever you like. Thats an important thing when you shoot landscape.

If you want a little more confort a farm house accommodation is a good option too. Many farms offer this service, they are cheaper than the hotels and you will experience a little more cultur this way. Comming in July you will have too book it in advance. Here is a link: //www.farmholidays.is/

As long as there is a bed for me and a bathroom, I'm not too weird about it. I want to be able to visit those wonderful Icelandic horses!!! Some of the farm/cottage facilities have them there. I'm so excited.

I'm all for a farm stay.

It's still a year away but maybe we should gather numbers as to how many for tenting and how many require a few more facilities. ;o)

tenting .. hmm may haveto get a new sleeping bag (my small one is a summer only) & it looks like would need a three or even a four season bag for that type of camping ...

My wife and I have decided to commit to this. So the question is..do I save for a canon 10-22m or do I add a longer lens to my pack? Say the 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 Which would serve more useful for this trip? Or any other suggestions?Or do I just get 24-105mm f4L.
Help me spend some money.

If I buy both then one of us is not making the trip and my bet is that my wife will leave me at home.:)

go steal one. plenty of stores are overstocked of 100-400mm lenses, im sure they wouldn't care.
