And we can't even accuse you of taking the sucker away to cause the tears!

Which countries celebrate Halloween?
10/31/2008 04:17:43 AM · #4
Hmmm, Canada and US, I know....
Australia doesn't, though apparently it's beginning to catch on to some degree in certain areas.

Found this, halloween around the world. It's rather interesting.

I agree. It appears pretty much North America and Ireland, and in that article they've lumped in everyone who has some sort of special day near Oct. 31.

Though I guess many of them have the same roots but have gone very different directions.

eta; Crayon edited his comment while I was typing, but I still agree with what he said! (dunno why he took it out, because it was perfectly valid and non-inflammatory :) )

I don't really approve of trick or treating, or 'guising' as we call it here. Sending your kids to strangers houses asking for money and sweets might've been innocent once upon a time but these days, no way. Far too many weirdos.

I shall be enjoying a quiet Wiccan Samhain celebration all by myself. :)

Maybe they're crying cause they got a weird flavored lolly... I know those "popcorn" flavored are suspicious... ew.

We have a blast with Halloween; all the decorating fun of Christmas without the other stresses :)
I'll have to take pics tomorrow once we're finished setting up. We've made tombstones, zombie bride and groom, blood fountain and more.

I carved these and still have 3 more to do;

Too cool, can't wait to see them. I shot this at a local haunted forest (house), turned out much better than I orginally thought. Man it is hard shooting in places like that, unless of course you're able to go during setup time and you can play all you want like I was able to do.

Can't you take the dog trick-or-treating? Oh... but then I guess it wouldn't be much fun for you to raid his treats of Milkbones...

Slippy, don't steal the poor kid's doll :P I got that one at a thriftshop for a buck, and the head is now my blood fountain, along with a pump from a regular tabletop fountain that I paid a whole $1.50 for. I got 3 of those paper-cloth painter's jumpsuits for a couple dollars each that will be stuffed with paper and dressed for dead bodies, and so much more. I LOVE thrift shops! :D

Oh, and here's what I did at 3am;

The more we stop doing innocent, wonderful things, the more the paranoia and doomsaying wins. All you have to do is take a few more precautions, that probably should have always been taken in the first place. We should refuse to become a society of scared, paranoid people unwilling to do anything out of a hyper-charged sense of false protection.

I took this a while ago but it so fitting for Halloweeen, I recently added the new sky which helps give it more of a hollween feel.
