I'd like to see more time; at the rate my image is going, it'll be up to a six in a week!
03/17/2009 01:15:42 AM · #2
I voted yes, because there are a lot of people who are having trouble finding enough time to vote/comment. I did manage to do a fair chunk of them and I think if voting is extended I will at least vote on all of them, though my commenting will slow down.

Please vote to extend. I have had no time the past several days.
03/17/2009 01:28:07 AM · #4
Noooooo ...... let it end!!! But seriously. Its taking away from the rest of the challenges and that unfair and besides that I'm no where near a ribbon so ...... lol

What they might do is end the votes and just allow comments?

oh no, I now make things too difficult

I promise to bump up +1 and give a great comment to all those who vote yes :-)

Very well then, I can easily be bought for a one point increase. Let it last forever!!! Mwahahaha

I initially voted NO, but thinking it better I changed my vote to YES.
I realize there are lots of people that haven't had the chance to vote and comment thoroughly due to the high number of entries, besides this is a milestone challenge that deserves the extra time.
03/17/2009 01:39:02 AM · #8
I voted yes only because I would like to vote on all the images and have only finished 38 percent. But I am sure a lot of the folks with high scores would like to see it ended just so their update button does not wear out.

No from my side. It has been a wonderful week, another week will slow things down and it won't be as much fun and well we already have ~500 votes on every entry.
03/17/2009 01:43:51 AM · #10
I think I'd vote yes if it were a couple of days but a whole extra week seems a bit much. I understand a lot of people haven't had the chance to vote and this is a special challenge, but not everyone is going to get a chance to vote and comment on everything they want to. I think it'd be best to end it.

Yes, I think it should be extended, let’s give ourselves the chance to vote on all the entries if we can, and comment on as many photos as possible.
Yes, It will be unique and most appropriate to extend the voting on such a grant contest.

If I may add one thing to the argument, I think if most ( or as many people as possible) vote on all the entries or as many images as possible, a more balanced and fair result, this will be.

Because no one set of 500 people have voted for the same set of photos, except those who have voted for the whole lot; and we do not know what the percentage of those, if the are 80% or more then “great”; but if they are only 20% then, the general consciences is not really representative.

A YES from me... just so that I can comment on more images.
03/17/2009 02:04:10 AM · #14
I think so, yes. It's obvious that the energy level hasn't dropped off that much, and I'd love more days to comment more.
03/17/2009 02:29:43 AM · #15
Noooooooo! My profile average has had 0.01 taken off it already, another week and it'll be down to zero!
03/17/2009 02:35:30 AM · #16
Considering that I only got half a dozen votes all day today, do you really think there'll be all that many more over another whole week?
03/17/2009 02:41:15 AM · #17
I have been right through and voted, but I would welcome the extra time to refine my votes.
03/17/2009 02:43:37 AM · #18
500 votes per photo is great, that will make for very fair statistics and no extension is required... unless - Does anyone know the percentage of voters that actually have reached their 20% threshold? Will results suddenly change abruptly when half of the voters are disregarded due to being below 20?

Instead of extending the time, I vote for lowering the threshold to get most of the current votes in.

I have to vote NO based on the impact it would have on the challenge; little to none.

Lets say at rollover your score was a 5.5000, it would take 70 consecutive 10-votes just to raise your average to 6.0008 and 160 consecutive 10-votes to get you to 6.5014.
Likewise, in the opposite direction after 70 consecutive 1-votes your score would only drop to 5.0056 and 158 consecutive 1-votes to drop to 4.5035.

Take in consideration this is the extremes. No one will get all 10-votes or 1-votes so It would take you approximately 250 more vote at 25% higher or lower than you scheduled rollover average to increase or decrease your score by a 1/2-point.

I don't see the justification of adding an extra week of voting/commenting with this little of a difference.

And this is not taking in account the impact it may have on the upcoming Exclusive challenges; will they suffer as did the 100 year challenge?

Just my 2 cents

Scott

I voted no. There's no point in extending it; the scores won't change much now, and any comments not made by now are unlikely to add anything that's not been said. It's been a great challenge, but I think it would be diminished by being dragged out any longer. End it while the excitement is still there. It's time to see the results, and more important to see who owned what.

I appreciate everyone's desire to add more votes and comments, but I'm ready to see who submitted what and read the stories behind the photos!

I agree...but I also at least want to LOOK at all the entries. Sure I could always go back afterwards but I don't feel I would be doing them justice by either quickly scanning through them or "cherry picking" images after the challenge is over. So um..I said yes.
