I'm shopping for a bag similar to, or smaller than, my pooched Lowepro Slingshot 300 AW. Any suggestions?

Check out my ranting Lowepro Slingshot 300 AW review to see what I'm talking about.

My preferred bag would have the sling style, so I can swing it around from back to front, and front to back, as the Slingshot does. I would like to have something with a few less compartments, say, minus the three bottom lens compartments, but still sized to hold the 100-400 mounted. The top compartment would be more useful if it were squared off, rather than sloped, which makes it too small to fit a good lunch in.

I try to avoid the Slingshit series. They get the camera gear all messy.

somehow I don't think that was a typo...

LOL, no, wasn't a typo. ;-)

In that case, check out the Tamrac Velocity series. I use a Velocity 9, and it'll handle a mounted 100-400 (somewhat snug).

That looks pretty good, perfect size. The diagram shows two spare lenses packed. It looks like the top spare lens has to be removed to get at the next one down. I suppose that wouldn't be too much of a hassle. I guess I'd even have the bottom spot empty so I could store the 100-400 in there.

I tried to watch it, but could barely hear you over the god-awful noise pollution you added to the video. Had to give up for the sake of what's left of my sanity :-(

Does a version WITHOUT that racket exist somewhere?

another example of 'you can please some of the people....'

I tried a whole lot of sling bags including the Velocity 7 but ended up loving the the slingshot 200

I suppose the zippers they use could be more well suited to lighter gear, as would fit in the Slingshot 200, or a woman's makeup bag. I've spent a lot of years working in the field doing geology, and the zippers on my Slingshot 300 certainly put it in the "raving pussy" category of anything I've ever used.

How dare you refer to The Crystal Method that way! I'm shocked at your lack of musical taste! Go stand in the corner with your nose against the wall until you get some culture! ;-P

I often carry 4 or 5 lenses in that bag. Just pack it with the "least likely to be used" lenses on the bottom.

I recall someone (Lowepro or Tamrac, I think) now making a convertible pack that can be used as a standard backback, or have one strap stowed for use as a slingpack.

Am I more likely to get ribbons with that bag? It seems to have worked for you.

No, you still have to use a camera.

It's AFFLICTION brand. They are REALLY nice. They are cut more to the shape of my body. I have a bigger chest and shoulders, so regular T-shirts cling on my moobs but are loose on my gut. There's a shop near my house that sells them, but they are pretty expensive. :-(

I would be afraid that someone would want to kick your arse while you were wearing it, lol!!
They are pretty 'spensive.

Have you tried calling LowePro and telling them your problem?

Agreed. This is posted on their company website. I'm sure they will try to help.Customer Service
Not sure about Canada, but they have a lifetime limited warranty in the USA. You may just get a new bag!
Let us know...

I've already returned two Slingshot 200 bags due to zipper failure...LowePro has been really good about replacing them, though. Hopefully they'll get rid of these weak zippers, or I'll keep sending them back.

Lowepro SlingShot 100 is cool but will it be oversize for you?

I did write them after the clasp incident. No action.

I'm not interested enough to do that. Plus, I need a new bag by the end of tomorrow, as we're travelling. I'm going to try to find the bag Shannon has. Maybe I'll send them a link to my video for kicks. ;-)

I have 2 Tenba bags, the Messenger and the Medium Shootout but not a Slingbag, they seem to make a great product. I also have a Lowepro Slingshit that has a bad zipper and will soon be replaced.
