Sounds like a fun one, but shouldn't the nature of this challenge have an exception to allow text?

The last one didn't, so why should this one?

Because it would make sense? have you ever seen a movie poster that did not have text????????

The man has a point, otherwise it's just a still from a movie.

This would have been perrfect for expert editing. :/

I agree with basssman7 and Yo_Spiff Adding text makes a hell of alot of sense.

FWIW, in the previous challenge I worked around that without being disqualified :)

Would be interesting to know if that could pass validation today?

in my opinion it should, since the text is photographed rather than added in PP, but of course it would be nice to know the opinion of the Supreme Council :)

Thats what confuses me about this, is it supposed to be an acctual poster? or just a photo/scene seteer type thing???

From Wikipedia

A poster is any piece of printed paper designed to be attached to a wall or vertical surface. Typically posters include both textual and graphic elements, although a poster may be either wholly graphical or wholly textual. Posters are designed to be both eye-catching and convey information.

So going by that, A Poster does not have to contain text, However I still think this challenge should have the text option. Otherwise you may as well call it a freestudy (with special rules for the title of image)

I was thinking more along the lines of confusing the viewer with the use of artwork like that photo a while back that was DQed because it used a photo of a family eating dinner behind a wine glass.

No disrespect mean to the AMAZINGLY talented, incredibly beautiful, extremely smart, and exeedinly humble artist who did the wine shot... but the lobster shot actually interacts with the torn part and doesn't at all make the viewer think that the paper is anything other than paper. So, I think it would pass.

I know it would be a lot more fun with text! I participated in a DPL Album Cover challenge where we could use text and it was so much fun!! And looking/voting..etc at the pics in the challenge was a lot of fun.

Stop complaining, you dont need text! its a "photographic" challenge not making an acctual poster, just take the photo as you would see it as such like a screen shot of the trailer...etc

"Create your own movie poster! The catch? Your film title must have the initials "DPC"!"

From what I read it doesn't seem that we can create our own title this time. What do you think?

Edited to add: I just look through a list of films beginning with D, and non of them had DPC initials. Lots of DP tho...

You can make up the title.

It's basically a free study. Last time people just made up titles and shot whatever they wanted.

ETA: too slow.

Wanted to make sure. thanks

So, it's a free study then, with the title of each one being the same "DPC."

Looking back at the results from last time, LevT's entry posted earlier in this thread would be the poster child for this challenge, no pun intended. The end result was a bullseye in meeting the challenge like that of a cliché but without the stale after taste.
