| Hovering back and forth across a 5. a good shot is not enough, you have to wow people. considering lighting is a weak area of mine, it's not unexpected. hopeful for it to get solidly into the 5+ range though. |

higher than what i was expecting, honestly, even so far. i signed up here a long time ago but finally got my butt into gear and started posting with the last challenge (hidden gems). im going to try and consistently enter for a few months at least, which is why i have a mediocre picture up this week. i ran out of time to pull off what i really wanted, and wound up using a "proof of theory" test shot. i still kind of like it, but there is a lot technically wrong with it.
oh, and "hi!"... there goes the first post cherry haha! ive been lurking a bit though and im not too scared... you all seem like a pretty nice bunch... |

| Just got through with my first round of voting. No wonder my score isn't very good. Everyone else was far more creative. There are A LOT of great entries. My voting on the "hidden treasures" challenge was much easier because I didn't feel a lot of them met the challenge. This time I'm going to have to dig deeper. It's going to be more time consuming to hit that 100% commenting too. Maybe later in the voting. |

| zorks !!!! straight in at 5.4 now up to 5.67 as ever its a photo that should not win but I really didn't expect it to work at all - I thought it would bomb but my wife made submit it..... there is no predicting this place :-) |

It's obvious that some people just vote higher than others. I'm experiencing the same phenomenon. My scores are gradually rising. Last challenge, they gradually dropped almost the entire time. Guess you never can predict it huh?

Aw, for almost all of yesterday my score was climbing and was above 6 but the last 12 votes have ravaged my score :(
Still on for a PB and hoping that it can push back up to a 6.

| wow I've never seen a score bounce around as much as mine has this time pretty much swinging between 5.4 and 5.8 I guess as more members votes then the averaging will damnpen down the movement. |

| I have decided to turn off scores now. I have been doing really well, but have dropped .3 in the last 10 votes or so. Rather than become bitter about a great score, I will just wait it out until next Tuesday. |

.... but .... "Try and make it evident that it is artificial." and also the challenge did kinda imply the subject could be the light or not hence the (s).
There are some utterly stunning portraits in this round but in my view they don't quite capture the spirit of the competition.... having said that I'm not voting (don't in rounds I've entered) and non of said portraits should score lower than an average 5 and for a lot of them a score of 5.x is a travesty.
I've said it before but personally I think sub 5 should be reserved for truly badly taken and truly way way way DNMC |
