The thread that gives sweet suck already features this request for help with my nephew's little project up there in Canada...

If you haven't started, start! (Start here)

If you have started, don't stop! One vote per day per registered email address...

It's not actually saving world hunger or anything, or maybe it is saving a bit of anything. The aim is to get funds for the restoration of a swimming pool facility. Much public money has already been invested to enable handicapped access, but more is needed to shape up to safety standards. People should be fit and they should learn to swim, preferably at an early age. Here's your chance to lend a hand.

If you'd do it for photo sites and talent contests, couldn't you do it here for something real?

Many thanks.

The air's gone out of the balloon a bit, which doesn't surprise me - I wasn't anticipating a round 3.

Maybe they're testing the idea's staying power and maybe that makes sense - what do I know?

Anyway, a bunch of thanks for all you've done and all contributions gratefully received in the future :)

regards from Simon's dpc uncle

No, really, vote, it doesn't hurt, even when you have to register with the funny site...

You have to register and things, but it doesn't hurt, honest... after that you can vote daily.

As I sit her watching this thread slip down the page, I thought I might fill in a little more of this story.
AVIVA is a large insurance company in Canada that has decided to reinvest in a community project, and is holding a contest. We have a young male named Simon who has nominated a community pool he frequents for consideration. The pool is over 50 years old and in need of serious repair and upgrades. Now you might ask why the community is not doing something, last year after several fundraisers they managed to purchase and install a chair lift for handicap access to the pool. The repairs and upgrades are extencive and need large scale assistance.
What is needed by you, register, type in your email 2 times (use your junk one), type in a password 2 times (anything will do), type in a username (does it matter), vote. Takes less than 2 minutes. What do you get, nothing but the knowledge that..
A) He won and a swimming pool is made ready for the next 50 years.
B) He did well, and enough support is garnered that others look into the project.
C) At the minimum a young man learns his voice is important, and he continues working to help others.
Not a bad deal for 2 minutes.

Voted and I think the 2 minutes was overestimating the time needed to help him. I'll be voting twice a day.

Could we multiply this by ten somehow?

319. It always seems to be the way that you willing help others get votes, but when it comes time you need them yourself, well...
Maybe an incentive? A comment for a vote? LOL!
