I wish I could go! This is getting so big!!! Being a poor kid is no fun! Haha! Oh well, I guess I will just have to wait until I either get enough money to go to one or wait till one is closer to me!

Have fun and happy shooting!

If your profile actually said whereabouts you live it would be easier for people to spontaneously GTG with you :-)

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend, even for the day. I have a family obligation that entire weekend. I was really looking forward to seeing everyone (even with the knowledge that Hot_Pixel was going to show...)

I am so jealous of all of you who are going! I am now being forced to go to a party for a guy I don't even know. I guess he is some guy who my mother's friend knew in high school and she felt awkward going because she wont know anyone there. Therefore she invited (forced) me to come along so she would have someone there that she knew.

Enough of my ranting... Have fun everyone who is going!

For those of you in the know (I have never been to NYC), is flying into Newark a problem? I'll be relying on public transportation to get to my hotel, of course. Just not sure how much more of an issue it is flying in to one airport over another.

Are you staying in Jersey or NYC? Either way, it's no problem to get into the city from there by bus or train.

there is a train , shuttle and cab that will take you to mid town its about 45 minutes away by public transpiration

So Saturday is the main day, and joining the group just for the day is acceptable? It's a longshot for me, but I'll try.

Is the group meeting before or after lunch (I thought I read both)? Will there be a meet-and-greet sort of affair to kick things off? And roughly how many hours of walking? (Stamina's not an issue -- I love to walk -- but I may have the family in tow somewhere, so I'll need to plan.)

I'm coming just for the day Saturday. I know there's a meeting time & place in this thread somewhere, but damned if I remember. LOL! I figure I'll get it all figured out when it gets closer.

When I went to Westminster with Mary, I flew into Newark. You might even be able to have someone pick you up. There's the train, but I think you have to get into NYC before a cab will take you anywhere. Where are you staying? I'm still looking at places.

Who's driving and staying more than a day? I'd like to fly in Friday night and maybe stay through Tuesday. It's too much of a trip not to do other things. I'm up for a Broadway show too. I was thinking if you wanted riding companions, we could fly into somewhere and you could grab us and keep going, although driving in the city is a booger.

Judy, I'm currently planning on flying in on the 3rd and leaving the 9th, so I'm definitely up for other activities. Currently have reservations at the place Steve recommended (Hotel Edison).

...As I mentioned earlier, I will be driving to NYC from Ottawa, CANADA early on Friday and leaving on Sunday morning. I managed to find a room at the Portland Hotel at Times Square. I could provide a ride to someone and if the hotel allows that kind of thing I could share the room.

Driving in the city is a piece of cake if your passenger keeps her eyes closed ;-) Parking in the city is a booger!

You got THAT right. Mary navigated that place with finesse and I had white knuckles. ROFL

Howdy folks! I'm arriving on the 3rd, landing at around 5:30pm. What's the best way to get from JFK airport to my Hotel?
I'm staying at the Paramount.
...I think I'm getting a little nervous : )

You might want to look Here or find someone who lives in NYC to explain things to you.

I would love to help but I live in the sticks and am driving to the NYC GTG.

Nick - The Paramount is a few blocks from me. No need to get nervous. It's a very straight cab ride into town at a fixed minimum rate and you won't get burned. I'm also planning on doing a walk-arounds before the main day Saturday and on Sunday. I know how much you guys from Australia love to drink and brawl so, I will make sure we hit a few rough Biker Bars to help you keep your footing. ;)

eta: All you have to do is go to the Taxi Stand at JFK and tell the Cab Driver "... Paramount Hotel, please...46th Street between 7th and 8th." He'll know exactly where to go because he's been there probably 20 times over the last few days. Easy enough. There's also the JFK-Port Authority Bus that can take you to 42nd Street between 7th and 8th which is about a 5-6 minute walk to the Hotel. Also very easy, cheaper and quick. Just keep ALL your Photogear right with you and NOT in the baggage holder. Never leave your gear from your hands or sight which I'd recommend anywhere you travel in the entire world. NYC is quite safe but don't play games with that stuff.

This is my Street Photography Workshop(half of them) from Thursday nights Central Park walk.

I was showing them my Bow Bridge angle...which apparently got their interest. The NYC GTG should look about the same way but we'll probably hit the Park on Thursday evening or something. It'll be a lot of fun.

Also, I've received about 15 emails from people insisting that I charge a little something for my efforts but I don't feel that that will be necessary. However, if anyone insists you guys can always get me a B&H Gift Card, if you feel so inclined. Either way...not a problem but as you all know...never can get enough gear, ink, paper, whatever!

Please remove me from the list. Apparently I have three things currently listed for that weekend, one is working. Sorry. Maybe next time.

If you're really feeling homesick and the immediate need to brawl, I can take you down to a place called Hogs and Heifers Saloon. We can have a quick beer, a fight and they have a pool table.
