That was taken a few weeks back on Canal Street, the west end of China Town, entering Soho (Greene Street). Cool shooting spot without question.

Sorry for off-thread question, just curious - is this posed or candid?

Both. I set them up, two girls relaxed and asked the middle gal to dance or do the Ballet positions. So, they moved around a little, chatted with each other and I was unaware at the moment but at a few points they were humming the Nutcracker and laughing. So, the essence of the shot is quite candid as they were relaxed, unguarded and natural. For something loosely set up, it's honest and pretty organic.

For a commercial shoot it was a really cool and fun blend of what I like to do and what they needed. My favorite shoot of the year.

eta: The one where the two men are chatting with them is a pure candid...kinda. The man walked by me while I setting up with my 70-200mm across the street and said "man...get a picture of me with the girls..." and I said "just go over and talk to them". He did and that was the moment...the other guy (with the cap) stopped to chat. Fun stuff.

Depending on what's needed for accomodations, I can sleep on a couch, or the train home.....makes no difference to me....

I also have no interest in a model based shoot.....I just want to surreptitiously shadow Steve......8>)

Don't be afraid to drive into NYC. Yes we have special hand signals - but you probably already know them from other contexts. If your car has a good horn and and you remember the golden (actually yellow) rule; Taxis Always Have The Right Of Way, you should be OK

Steve, keep it simple. I'm all for a walkabout shoot, NO models...too much hassle and not fun having 10,000 people juggling for a shooting position around a model.

Ditto

Ok Here's the Unofficial Video and an Unofficial Date...

New York - DPCNYCGTG <<< give it a look

The weekend of June 5th(Friday, Saturday, Sunday)? After Memorial Day so, travel and accommodations should be easier AND the temperature will be a few degrees cooler than at the end of the month.

Saturday will be the main day but I assume some folks will fly in before and stay until Sunday. I will organize two nice walk-arounds through target rich locations with rest breaks. The evenings will be wide open where people can break away or join the group for dinner, music etc.

We really can't miss. Rain or shine the city will have plenty to offer...

Boo, I might actually be travelling that weekend, but I would be back on the Sunday. Ironic, I am in the city virtually every weekend, and the one time I should be the city, I will be away. Oh well, they'll be other weekends.

Yes! We weren't loaded down at all. I just carried one of those shoot sac thingies and it had my zoom lens in it and a regular lens. Next time, I'll bring my macro lens too so I can at least have one that opens up to 2.8. I was jealous of all those great blurry background shots y'all were getting.

Man, there is NO WHERE like New York to get fabulous street photos. I really hope I can come too.

That video is AWESOME, Steve! You have nailed New York photography at its best.

June 5th is a day that someone is trying to pull me in to doing a wedding -- but I'm thinking this might be a good excuse to get out of it. I just hope I can save up enough money by then because we've had a trip planned to the Rockies at the end of February for a long time. I need to get some photo jobs and make sure I can pay for it :)

Damn - I lost my watch button, might fix that..... That should work for me baring any last minute work crap (both 4-letter words that belong together).

I'd love to come, at least for a day, but I'll probably be back in Romania by then.
