Just wanted to celebrate joining Team Rebel with my new purchase this afternoon. So exciting! I have the kit lens and that's it for now. Much to learn, much to celebrate. I'm off to charge the battery and start RTFM...

Welcome to the team Boomer. I too love my Rebel. The hard part is convincing my wife that I need more equipment.

Congratulations Boomer! Know you will love this camera. I bought mine in October. I found some great additional lenses on ebay and flash too.

Well done and welcome - a fine purchase. Careful though, it's addictive and before you know it that little shutter has opened and closed over 2000 times (and all your pocket money will be gone 'cause you couldn't resist buying the other stuff that you "need") :-)

Thanks everyone I feel great! I have a quick question. I put in a 512 CF from my A70, which I had reformatted both in the A70 and in the Rebel, and took my first picture with the DReb. Son of a gun, the File Number was 149-4901! I was expecting 001-0001 because I had set the camera to CONTINUOUS File Numbering and hadn't taken any pictures yet. The camera came in a sealed box and all the components were in sealed plastic bags. My last images in the A70 were a batch that ran from 4892 - 4911. So what gives? Did I get a demo camera or something? Now I'm worried!!!

As I understand it the numbering starts based on the highest group number on the card if you use the card from another camera. Why it is so, I have no idea, but try switching off continuous enumeration or format the card in your CF reader to really clean the thing out. This is not a sign of the age of your camera, but of your CF card.

Thanks, that worked. Now I'm off to the races!

Not sure when this feature was added, but I see we can list cameras in order of DPC owners:

Cameras by DPC Owners

The D70 is catching up, considering it's not as old as the 300D.
