Well, in the original post photo, EXACTLY what is exposed between the female's index finger and her second finger. I think we all know it is a certain part of a female body called genitalia. A blind person can nearly see that. Kind of makes a moot point of what she is or is not doing doesn't it? Showing male or female genitalia is strictly forbidden.
As I recall, the other photos mentioned did not show any forbidden body parts. Admitted, they were VERY suggestive.

Think about the title and the cross.....

Come on, people. This is hardly the top of someone's pants -- those usually sit at or near the waist. This is a very skimpy set of underwear that are low enough to see hair, and the fingers are going much farther down. You can pretend all you want, but there's more than "implied" here. If my 11 year old was still active on the site, I'd be smart enough to not let him vote on a lingerie challenge, and this might be ok in that respect. But I would hate for this to be acceptable and show up in regular challenges. For anything, other than the lingerie challenge, I think this has really crossed the line.

...and the way she's dressed. See? We disagree on it. That's exactly what I wanted, someone to disagree with me.

#1: If the "implied action" is not happening when the shutter is pressed , it's not really against the TOS. That applies to the image in question. Look at the position of the fingers; she's not touching anything, but probably headin' that way. We shouldn't ask them to DQ it for what she's thinking or what she's going to do next, only for what she's doing when the shutter is fired.

#2: If there is considerable doubt about the "implied action," as in pawdrix's image, it is not DQ-able either.

I only included pawdrix's image to prove my point about "split decisions" - if there's room for doubt about what's happening (his image), or if there are disagreements on what we are seeing (the image in this challenge), we should err on the side of caution and just let it go rather than starting huge fights... trust me, this would've turned way uglier if it had been DQ'd from the start.

PS: vawendy, I think the "Adult Content" filter is automatically on for those under 18. Maybe you should check off that "Hide Adult Content" box if you're letting your young kids on an artistic photography website.

Her middle finger is without a doubt within range of the sweet spot.

Since you can NOT actually see her finger, you also have no way of knowing if it's touching said spot, or lopped off at the second knuckle from an industrial accident.

Facetious, I'll grant you, but.....

I don't know the image you are referring to, but this one is hardly sexually explicit. We've had full frontal nudes in challanges.

Just pointing out that nudity and sexuality are not necessarily to be conflated. A naked picture is not always a picture of sex.

What?! A bit of hair counts as genitals now?

Wow, what a long discussion about "implied," but I guess this does explain why I got so many low votes.

Firstly, I apologize if my photo offends anyone. My original reaction to this thread was to explain how we ended up at this final pose, but on second thoughts felt the idea here that suggestive/implied/ action or poses is grounds for DQ is a very slippery slope that IMHO we really must not go down.

Photography is more than simply capturing what we see. Great photographers (I am not saying I am one BTW, I know I am far from it) capture moments, moods, feelings. Their images portray far far more than the eye can see. Their work moves us – sometimes in a positive way, sometimes in an uncomfortable way. There were a few photos in this challenge that accomplished that as they made me nauseous, some totally disgusted me, and some were a delight to behold. Should I request a DQ for those that I felt were disgusting? Or for those shots where the knickers were completely off because they implied intercourse was about to take place? If I ever do, then I hope that is the day that I throw my camera in the river.

As for the finger touching something that it should not be touching, if my memory of female anatomy serves me correctly, it still has a good 2-3 inches to go.

Wait a sec... who took the picture?

Hair is forbidden in what holy book? Please tell.

You obviously are in denial if you cannot see the top of lips of her vagina and a slight line of seperation between the two sides. Look slightly to the left of her index finger.

Genitals have been allowed in challenge entries before, I know because I sent SC a ticket about some of them and they were allowed to remain. Funny, it was always female genitalia. I think some of the SC members don't quite know female anatomy. You can be certain that a picture of a penis will get DQ'ed, but not of labia. Double standard? I think so.

All this hand-wringing and verbal acrobatics over nothing. The answer is obviously to make full nudity acceptable in challenges.

You're imagining things. If you lighten the midtones you can see that the panties are basically opaque. All that's visible between her fingers is a shiny reflection and the dark floral print.

I guess I'm both blind and in denial then, whilst also practising double-standards and forgetting everything I know about biology.

Oh how I love this website

Well then, can you please explain why these photos were not DQ'ed when they clearly show female genitalia?

Female genitalia does not just include the vagina and clitoris. Allowing these photos is like allowing the scrotum to be shown as long as the penis is not showing.

I think you should just subscribe to Hustler and get on with it.

to me its all very simple there is nothing wrong with that image.....i have the feeling the commenters here simply want an image to be disqualified due to it being too good for them to compete with!

what nudity and suggestiveness, come on arent you all adults ....i mean you have to pay with a cc to join these competitions isnt it? as far as my memory concerns we all are adults when we get our CC's, and we all have seen a pprivate parts so what with an image, its our business aint it?

lets be a bit less prude! Puhlease

When the site rules specifically state that Male or Female genitals cannot be shown, it has nothing to do with being prude or who's business it is.

Because they're excellent photographs? About your concern that pudenda are more acceptable than penises and that the latter seem only to be considered "genitalia" in the context of challenges, I agree. The arbitrariness of the whole rule should be chucked.

there are no genitals on display here, far from even! perhaps you need glasses? asides from that the challange was lingerie, everybody in their right mind knows that lingerie wraps up genitalia, so a bit of leniency would be advised here

Honestly? We DID agree to DQ them (and some similar entries) way back in 2008. However, there was some debate about the repercussions of retroactively DQing a bunch of previously validated entries with a different group of SC, and the discussion died out in 2009 with no action taken.
