time for a new camera bag? … seems kinda like a (cheap?) telescope I suppose.

Hmm, so is that EF or EF-S compatible? Some nice customer images, though no reviews. And free shipping... That's mildly tempting, even if the optical quality is rough. =)

ETA: Besides the mount, they fail to mention the F stop - probably somewhere around f/32, and by definition not AF compatible. =D

Good gracious! At that price, this is very tempting. But at $219, what sort of quality could it possibly be?

opteka ones always are cheap because they have rather small apertures like f8 which is crap for a telephoto, plus some of these, not saying this is...are reflex lenses

You wont get good results (not sure if any results you can get) with that one :) In the sample photos i can see strong chromatic aberations and it will be too soft. Even on F8 you wont be able to catch a bird sharp unless you use 12000 iso :) It doesn't have auto focus. In short terms:

Highly doesn't recommended.

Actually I find that ISO 400-800 works GREAT..

I have the 500mm variety of this lens, a true long non-telephoto lens.. There's really nothing "wrong" with them except that they are manual focus (not super easy, this takes skill and practice!), they have a max aperture of f/8 (yours may vary, but I think it's f/8)..., and they are long and heavy.

With that out of the way, bokeh isn't horrible (it's not SUPER but, it's not bad..), sharpness isn't bad at all, if you can focus accurately anyway, and chromatic aberration is fairly bad, but not completely ridiculous..

I say if you want a serious lens, go buy anything else. If you want the cheapest functional super long lens, then this baby is your ticket..

FWIW, I like my 500mm just fine, $80 was a great deal, and this is actually a zoom. That could be good or bad (zoom is a great idea, but it may botch the optical quality...)
