I was sure hoping I'd win, but I didn't have my expectations too high...

The butterfly was a great model
The butterfly was on a tree and i put my finger out next to it and it crawled right on. moved it all around for about an hour, it didnt seem to mind or be scared at all. Originally i was going to submit a photo of some flowers i took late at night right after the challenge started, but changed my submission to this picture which i took later in the afternoon on the 23rd.

A slight problem I seem to be having...I used my girlfriends Kodak digicam to take the photo, and on my computer when i open it in photoshop it says it was taken on the previous day, the 22nd...which of course it wasn't. It's not a problem with having the date on my computer set wrong either, any ideas on how to sort the date out so as not to be dq'd? I uploaded the pictures to my girlfriend's computer the same day and on her computer the file information says it was created the 23rd. I had her email the photo to me, but in photoshop it too says it was created the 22nd? So...how ought i go about proving its authenticity?

Is the date set properly on the camera?

If it is not, and the date on the file is outside the challenge dates, I'm afraid the image will be DQ'ed. :(

In the meantime, go ahead and submit your original. Checking the camera will help avoid the problem in the fiture, but the original is what it is and we will have to base our decision on what is there.

alright, i will submit it now... it wont be immediately dq'ed for having this problem with the date will it?

it's kind of funny, i read in the rules about how excuses about having the incorrect date on the computer wouldn't be accepted so i made sure to set my date correctly on the computer. didn't think to check on the camera since it wasn't mine. oh well, what is, is.

thanks. i looked at all the past challenges before th voting was done to see what the winners recieved as average votes... there were a bunch with mid 6's and a bunch with 7's so i wasn't quite sure where my photo would end up. good luck in the purple challenge.

Unfortunately, if the EXIF date and time are outside the challenge dates, the image will be disqualified. Checking the camera is important to understand why the problem happened so it can be avoided in the future... but for this image we have to base our decision on what is stored in the original file.

Of course, none of this takes away fromt he fact that this is an amazing shot that you should be proud of!

Why not copy your comments and such so you can keep them? I know I would be bummed to lose the feedback and such. Perhaps you could use them to improve it and submit it to another contest. :) Congratulations, it's an awesome image and a great start, no matter if it gets DQed or not!

Doh! If it is DQed, we still love you and want you to play with us in our sandbox!

Those of us who have been around a while know that there are MANY more challenges...

By the way, if you're a member (and it's DQed), you can repost the shot in your portfolio. I'm sure many will still want to include it in their favorites.
