Droplets, wine glasses, bug macros, flowers...

... but all need to be "eye candies"

:)

Friendship, learning, admiration of other photographers, envy over glass or equipment, camaraderie, respect!!!

One of the first things that came to mind, after thinking of "the pictures that always win", was "L Glass". Full-frame dSLRs. Whiterook! DPC loves Whiterook! DPC loves Posthumous, and it loves ART! (The roflmao art, not the artsy art) DPC loves sharing, and giving, and bad puns.

:-)

I'm doing good. 95% back to normal. Just issues with hearing, eyesight and memory. I used to be pedantic about spelling but now that is atrocious so I am doing activities to help bring it back. Working on this flood book, auction, exhibition and DVD at the moment for launch in less than 2 weeks. A huge job. I don't get to enter much but am inundated with work coming in, which is good.

I glad to see you are improving. Stick with it, I know you will make a full recovery. You in my thoughts and prayers.

There might be some useful insight to this on this page ribbon hogs

I believe tastes have changed significantly over time and the list of hogs may not be representative of what gets popular vote now. Who came up with this challenge?

Me...

what did I win?

Ha! Just realized this thread was about a challenge topic. Just realized I won't be entering this challenge. DPC does NOT love tourist shots or candid snapshots - I can vouch for that!

This could soooo easily slip over into the realm of satire.

Now how can I get a dew laden bug to stand next to where I will make a water droplet that reflects a dew laden flower?....Could I squeeze them all into a backlit wine glass?....this could work.
03/14/2011 01:07:34 AM · #13
One thing for sure... I bet (for real) there will be more than 200 entries...

anyone else is guessing?
03/14/2011 01:22:00 AM · #14
Probably about 110 or so. Haven't had any challenges break 200 other than Free Studies for quite awhile, it seems.
03/14/2011 01:26:07 AM · #15
Yes, but this "DPC cliche" fear will be broken for one challenge. No new ideas needed... just "let the best copy win"

:-)

Oh how exciting.

Bring on Tuesday! ;)

Aha! "Eye candies"! That's not synonymous with ribbon hogs! That's easy..

PS In case I was not understood - the top ribbon hogs are extremely fine photographers, they do not have to do "eye candies".

Obviously what DPC likes the most is what wins ribbons. No brainer. So just look at the winning photos from the last several challenges for inspiration.

But they as as varied as the challenges. I think it is more about nailing a technically sound shot with stellar composition, well thought out processing and emotion. Of course if you look at free studies, a great landscape goes a long way but it must follow what I said above.

Look at Free Study winners. This is basically a free study.
