There is plenty of info on the earlier discussions regarding why juried and what the point was. It's a supplement, not a replacement.

2 weeks I think is nice too. A bit longer to pull things together, but still keep the push of a narrow timeframe.

Eh... whatever... I just enter something and see what happens... Too complicated stuff for my brain cell.

Always a good plan. Actually a good description of "making art"; just do something and see what happens :-)

Hard to believe but I already have an idea. Now to execute it properly.

You mean it is a studio shot? There wasn't much time for anything else.

Or someone who enjoys having the #1 placeholder :-)

Does everyone vote on entries in the same order base upon when they are submitted? If so, I would guess that the scores of last minute entries (like mine often) would be hurt by voter fatigue.

No. The system lays out the images for every voter randomly on the thumbnail pages. No advantage to being first.

Well, I still feel like I have no clue what fine art really is, so my plan is to just take lots and lots of pictures these two weeks and submit the one I want people to see and comment on.
I don't think its going to work for me to actually set up a shot, because that would mean I would have to understand what I even want :-P

Not understanding what you want out of your imagery is a drawback.

That's a bit summary. It is wonderful when you can "make" a picture, but "finding" pictures is a valid way of connecting with a universe that is larger than but includes what it is we may "want."

Someone beat me to it. I was entry #2.

Looking forward to voting on this one. Fine art is a bit subjective so i'll probably not dwell to much on my entry and just go with the type of thing i like. I enjoyed the nixter challenge and the posthumous Challenge so i'm sure i'll love this.

I remember the quality of the last challenge, so doubtful I'll enter, but just cannot WAIT to vote. This is probably my favorite style of photography. WOOT!!!

I have just read through the juried results and looked through the popular vote. I am not sure about either. Some of my picks overlap with one or both, but very few are my favs. Art seems to be so subjective. I am not sure if I will vote at all. I have very mixed feelings about this challenge at the moment. I will enter with zero expectation.

Your comments are good and they align with mine. Just speaking for myself, I am a Realistic and Technically oriented photographer. Nothing wrong with that. However, there are images beyond the regular and standard which are special, unusual, memorable and fascinating. The concept of presenting photographs which are more interesting and which draw more views from a wider range of people is a worthy goal to pursue. I, too, have zero expectations, but I can tell the right hemisphere of my brain is waking, if only briefly.
