hello all,

I went to the famous flower show at Hampton Court this past weekend and took a few shots. Here are some of the best, and there are a few more in my portfolio

Comments, critiques?

The ones I like best are the ones you've managed to really isolate a single flower and blur the background. Good use of DOF and subject placement on those. (90699, 90691)

thanks for the comments cpanaioti, i really like those ones as well. I only wish I had a macro lens, maybe I'll have to buy myself birthday present.

If you want an inexpensive Macro Lense, there are the "Store Brand" Quantaray Lenses from Ritz Camera. I have the Quantaray 70-300mm 1:2 Macro lense and I am happy with it. The AF isn't the fastest out there, but with it, I was able to take these shots, using the Macro Feature...

Butterfly Shots

It also provides some great range on teh telephoto end allowing shots like this...

Tiger from around 20 or so feet. (Give or take 5 Feet.)

The lense ran me under $200. Here's a link to it on their web-site. The lense is identical to the Sigma 70-300mm lense, as that is what it is. Sigma apparently makes all the Quantaray line of lenses.

I will post a few other shots that I took with that lense when I have some time. Take a glance at my DP Challenge Portfolio to see some more. I will attempt to remember to type in which lense I took each shot with.
