This idea was sparked from the Blackboard/Whiteboard discussion.. sorta.

Anyway.

What if each week we do the normal challenge ordeal, as it's been done.

But. If you submit to the challenge that week, you are able to submit to the "Weekly Gallery". That being a gallery of either 'general' work people took that week or maybe a few topics or specific settings (sepia/negative/white and blackboard modes..etc) To save space on the servers, each week the photos get dumped. They're not to be voted on, just looked at for the week.

I dunno. Everyone can use pbase or something of the sorts for gallery stuff. But maybe if its a specific topic...

gah my idea is falling apart.

It's not a bad idea at all.. I think that being able to comment on those photos would be nice though :)

Yeah, the purpose of the weekly gallery is to get some feedback on current work and a quick critique. It sort of gaurantees someone will check out your stuff other than relying on them hitting the link to your pbase/photosig/etc site.

I think that open discussion on a specific photograph would be beneficial to everyone. I would provide some open and useful feedback to the photographer and it would also help people learn how to critique. I don't know how many people spend time each week after a challenge reading back through photo comments other than on their own work... I also think that a discussion would likely generate better critiques than the challenge does. Most of the comments I receive seem short and sweet, and mostly non substantial.

Yeah, that's one of the main reasons I like photosig so much. Granted I've given a few short responses to any critiques that I have made but that is mostly due to the fact I dont have complete photography knowledge, so if there's just nothing I can think of for a photo, I tell 'em how much I like it, maybe why specificially, and then move on.

Gah, I need to take some photos for this weeks challenge.
