So the challenge is to learn french so I can translate his web page, find people wearing top hats and suits, go back in time and photograph it...nice challenge!

That actually sounds really disrespectful to one of the greats, I was only kidding!

;)

coley is a master of set up shots. HCB was the complete opposite, as he was all about candid decisive moments - nothing set up. But knowing DPC, a set up shot will anyway probably win.

He was born in 1908 and died in 2004.. I don't know why but this bit of information really hit me because the change he must have seen in the world is massive.

This was "sort of" a Henri Cartier-Bresson challenge, he even had an entry in it (but it was DQ'ed).

In other word this is a candid / street photography mimicking his style ;)

Not that I expect it to happen, but I would love to see bvy ribbon in this one. His style and philosophy about street photography strikes me as similar to Henri himself. However, a setup shot will probably win.

I think I'll be hitting the streets myself for this.

Its market day tomorrow in our local town, lots of folks dressed like in the fifties around here. Can we use SEP to convert to B&W or is that a no no?

Edit because i've just remembered, the last street photo challenge was the same.

definitely not -- you can only use the desaturate or other black and white options that have absolutely no sliders (from what I understand...)

oooo drool!!

Will we lose points if we don't use a Leica? ;-)

Minimal editing? blech. Desaturate is such a unsatisfactory method for making a B&W.

That's why I'll set the camera to shoot B&W, I think the Canon B&W mode does a better job than desaturate.

Yes, I agree, that's what I will do too (if I shoot that is).

Very excited about this one as I already have an idea which is something that does not come easy to me.

Got a model already lined up for either tonight or tomorrow night. I have a good feeling about this one. Only thing I am worried about is the minimal editing. :(

Sorry DNMC. HCB is all about candid moments.

Here

What about this though? I mean he had to have asked the person. Or something.

From everything I have read about him, he happened upon these scenes. He most likely did interact with his subjects, but he didn't call them on the phone or text them and set up a time and place to shoot. It was about the 'now' and the as it happens rather than the set up and planned.
