I caught some images of this tonight. Sorry about the focus.

Since I do not have a portfolio here, I thought I should suffer you all with the pics..

Great shots!! I've always wanted to see a cicada at that life-stage...

I don't know how much you know about these fellows, but they're a fascinating creature!!!

Nice pics. Thanks for sharing. Looks like a cicada molting (shedding its skin), not emerging from a chrysalis. I may be wrong, but I believe only butterflies emerge from a chrysalis.

You are all right about the terminology of course.

And wikipedia has me beat with that awesome time lapse!
