So, 2 days after my wedding, my wife got back into her dress, and I got back into my Tux, which had to be returned later that day. Armed with my Tripod and my Wireless Remote we went on a shoot around town. We spent about 6 hours out shooting, until my flash started dying, and the storm started to roll in.
Just want to get some thoughts/critiques on these shots. I have a few more I'm still working on.
I'm just now dabbing in getting serious in wedding/portrait photography, and am having a hard time editing, and even shooting it at times. This is a whole different world from my normal wildlife thing.
Currently using CS5 Extended with no add-ins.

I really liked this shot, blew the highlights out of the world, but ended up liking the final product.

This one was intense, the wife really loved the shot, as did I, but there was ALOT of cloning needed. I like the final photo, but I do feel it could be much better.

Any suggestions, comments, critiques etc would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to be harsh, this site has taught me a lot, and there is a ton more I need to learn.

I think your edited shot looks good. May be a bit over sharpened.

Your edited shot looks great! It definitely makes a statement. I also like the way your wife is standing and how we can see her shoe/foot to the side. I think it adds a lot of personality. I think it might look better with a vertical crop though.

i love the first one..your wife looks more relaxed and natural and very beautiful.not saying i dont like the others but her shoe is distracting and the statue in the other one is.all in all a good job x

Thanks everyone, well so far it appears I did a 'decent' job...lol.
Revecca I have one of a vertical crop, but I did that after this one, I like that one more as well. ;-)

Well, I finally finished working all my 2 day after wedding pictures. I do have to say, this was one of the most enjoyable shoots I've ever had. It also was a nice break from everything leading up to the wedding, and just some relaxing, fun, personal time with me and my wife.

We did this shoot on the Monday after our wedding (May 14), as my Tux didn't need to be returned until that night. We were both really happy with the outcome of the shoot, even though starting at 11AM, with horribly harsh lighting, we finished about 5-6PM with a storm coming in pretty quickly. We have decided that we like these pictures better than those of our actual wedding, plus it gives us a great memory to look back on.

I suggest any photographer getting married should really do this, it was an experience that I am glad we did!

My After Wedding Shoot!

Please feel free to let me know any thoughts, comments, or critiques. After going through them all, I see some are oversharpened, although it doesn't look bad enlarged, and I had a few other gripes...but all in all...was good times!

Congrats on your getting married!
The photos look very good to me. In the last wedding that I shot a couple of weeks ago, one of the shots that was seriously overexposed turned out to be the fav of the whole bunch. I converted it to B&W to save it, and they loved that. The mode dial on the top left on the D7000 needs a lock so it will not turn when you bump it. Mine got rotated to "manual" from "aperture" causing the overexposure before I noticed it. Otherwise, love that camera.
The beach shot would be good for B&W as well, but then you would lose that wonderful eye color and the line of color of the water behind her.

You should do some of those crazy Russian wedding montage shots just for kicks.
