My wife Karen and I are off to 'Frisco the end of this week. We'll be spending the weekend in town, then heading up toward Napa, and then over toward Sequoia, perhaps across Tioga Pass if the weather up there is still good. We're arriving late Friday evening and will be out and about the city Sat. and Sun.

LOL, nice euphemism! We will definitely come prepared for sprinkliness :-)

It's a loooong drive from Texas to the wine country ... ;-)

Unless you want to get run over by a cable car, better use The City's full name while you're out here (and this from an East Bay-er, go figure) ... and be prepared for temperatures anywhere from 45-85°F, possibly both at the same time depending on neighborhood.

I spent the 1st week of September in San Francisco. Being from Newfoundland I thought I would be prepared for the "cool" weather people were talking about. Turns out it was cooler than I thought it would be. I got some nice pictures, though. Enjoy yourself!!

It's easy to recognize tourists in San Francisco -- they are the ones who think you can wear shorts and a T-shirt in July and August ...

Hey, kirbic! wish we could work in a GTG while you are in the area, but somehow I think you and your wife
will be able to keep yourselves entertained in San Francisco without local help. There are some spectacular
cloud patterns around right now, though, so you should have some good photography chances. (or not)
2 days apart:

Well, we do have to eat, so there is the possibility of doing a lunch or ??. We have no set itinerary, we should be around downtown for most of the two days.

ETA: The weather forecast is actually looking pretty good :-)

Nothing will brand you "tourist" faster than using the "F" word while there :-)

Lol, it makes me laugh so much when people call San Francisco...Frisco or San Fran. Nobody in California calls it that. We say SF, and thats about it. Same thing with calling California "Cali"...only people who are not from California would ever call it that.
It always amuses me, because it makes tourists so obvious. And generally, when people say Cali, its said in a really pompous bragging smug way..like "Well, I am going to Cali soon, nbd" and I just want to snort because they aren't coming off cool at all yet they don't know it

I grew up in LA and I used to call it "Frisco" to see the indignation on SF residents' faces and get "the look".

See then its ok, since its just a good-natured Socal-Norcal rivalry rather than ignorance. There is a 'hella' big difference :-P

It's even funnier when they'd say they're going into "The City" as if San Francisco was the only city and I'd say, "What city, Boston, Chicago?" and act like I had no idea what they were talking about until they said, "The city of San Francisco." and I'd shoot back with. "Oh, Frisco"

Dear ones, we love you, no matter what you call our town.
We love your different languages, your excitement climbing our hills,
our cable cars, beaches, our neighborhoods and our weather.
We even love to see your poor blue knees, especially when
topped by a thick, comfy wrap that says "Alcatraz"

Just come see us.
